Overwatch

good to see changes but already comp is just ridiculous.......

Everyone wants to play sombra, so just ended up with a team on DEFENSE!!!!

Me as D Va - rest of the team, tracer, sombra, solider, reaper, hanzo.

I mean seriously - what is the point in picking a team like that.....no one would switch - we lost inside 2 minutes.

Have had a bit of a play... the 1v1s are still fun as they were on the PTR, won one lost one so far but both were pretty close

Hopped on comp to see if my beloved 25% more expensive ults would be the change to the play I was hoping for, and was kind of disappointed honestly... It's the exact same stuff as before only now there's an extra 25% of waiting around for ults to build - so now instead of a tedious cheese-fest it's a slightly slower tedious cheese-fest... I guess maybe Sombra will change things somehow but it's not looking too hopeful so far...

It took me soooo long to win three 3 on 3 (like 1½ hours), I almost couldn't believe it. I started off thinking I was that bad, but as I watched some of my team-mates... wow.

I forgot that they buffed Pharah a little bit, had a go with her last night and the changes feel great... At first I thought the buff to splash damage wouldn't be too noticeable as I generally direct-hit with the rockets anyway, but it helps with mopping up the peskier heroes who are harder to hit directly sometimes like tracer/genji... and as for the jetpack thrust increase - I love it! Especially now that it's more viable to use drops/pits etc. defensively; I used to drop over the edge to escape hitscan fire sometimes and then die due to eventually running out of fuel... The speed change is welcome too as it makes bobbing about to dodge shots a bit easier...

First game I tried with new Pharah I went 40-3 on Ilios, 3 golds and carded for 8 environment kills... and we still lost... in fact I don't think I won a single game last night out of about 8 or 9 games - the diamond dream is over now for sure as I'm back to ~2500

I didn't really read about all the buffs and nerfs, but I noticed that Pharah can stay up in the air a lot longer than before.

I don't know if it's my SSD speed or something, but I always get first pick on the character select screen so I managed to play Sombra for about 90 minutes in Quickplay, much to the chargrin of others.

I like her, but her passive ability to see 'low health' enemies through walls makes her a bit OP IMO as it's pretty easy to just hunt those enemies down.

She's gotta be the best flanker in the game now really, Getting behind a Reinhardt and hacking his shield off, or behind a bastion and hacking him out of turret mode is quite satisfying.

Full Hero balance updates:

HERO BALANCE CHANGES

General
Dealing damage to things other than players (like Torbjörn's turret or Symmetra's teleporter) no longer charges ultimate abilities
Ultimate costs have been increased by 25% for all heroes

Developer Comment: Game-changing ultimate abilities were coming up a bit too frequently. This change helps keep them in check while still allowing them to be powerful.

Ana
Nano Boost
No longer increases move speed

Developer Comment: The increased speed from Ana’s Nano Boost made the ability feel unstoppable and forced Ana players to select targets that could really take advantage of the speed boost. Removing the speed boost means that Ana has a reason to apply Nano Boost to a larger variety of heroes, and enemies can fend off the attack more easily.

D. Va
Call Mech
Ultimate cost has been decreased by 20%
Mech health increased to 200 (formerly 100). Armor remains at 400
Movement speed while firing has been increased by 25%

Developer Comment: We reduced the cost of the Call Mech ultimate ability to compensate for the increased ultimate cost across all heroes (detailed above). D.Va players shouldn’t experience a noticeable change. The rest of these changes help D.Va’s withstand attacks, which will allow her to keep pressuring enemies.

Lúcio
Amp It Up
Healing per second has been decreased by 10%

Developer Comment: Lúcio’s overall healing output has always been on par with (or even higher) than Overwatch’s other healers, and his other benefits made him an almost mandatory pick.

Mei
Blizzard
Ultimate cost has been increased by 15%

Developer Comment: Mei’s ultimate was recently given a much larger radius. Now it’s coming up too frequently, considering the impact it can have.

Mercy
Passive health regeneration now activates when Mercy avoids taking damage for 1 second (formerly 3 seconds)

Developer Comment: This change allows Mercy to survive more easily by evading enemy fire.

Pharah
Rocket Launcher
Minimum explosion damage has been increased by 13%
Minimum explosion knockback has been decreased to 0%
Jump Jets
Lift increased by 35%

Developer Comment: These changes will make the explosions from Pharah’s Rocket Launcher more deadly, so hitting multiple targets should feel better. Her Jump Jets are also getting a boost to increase maneuverability while hovering.

Soldier: 76
Pulse Rifle
Bullet damage increased from 17 to 20
Maximum bullet spread increased from 2.2 to 2.4

Developer Comment: Soldier: 76’s damage felt a little low when compared to similar heroes. This increase affects both his normal fire and his ultimate.

Torbjörn
Scrap is now automatically generated over time
The amount of scrap collected from a fallen enemy has been decreased by 40%
Forge Hammer
Swing speed increased by 25%
Damage decreased by 27%

Developer Comment: Armor Packs have always been a powerful tool in Torbjörn’s arsenal, but it was often difficult to gather enough scrap to give your team a legitimate boost when they needed it. Conversely, if a team held on long enough, the scrap collected from fallen enemies was often able to generate so many armor packs that enemy teams had a difficult time turning the tide. Automatically generating scrap over time helps smooth out these differences and makes Torbjörn more viable. His hammer swing speed was increased to help him construct level 2 turrets more quickly.

Widowmaker
Venom Mine
Explosion no longer damages the player who placed the mine
Widow’s Kiss
Charge rate increased by 20%

Developer Comment: These changes allow Widowmaker to be more flexible and reactive.

Zarya
Particle Barrier
Power gained from barriers decreased by 20%
Projected Barrier
Power gained from barriers decreased by 20%

Developer Comment: Considering her potential damage output, Zarya was starting to feel like a mandatory pick in most situations. Rather than reduce her damage output, this change makes achieving her maximum power and damage output slightly more difficult.

Can't believe they've not done anything to Symmetra still!

Can't believe they've not done anything to Symmetra still!

I think it's going to be coming soon(ish) but they've said she needs a much more significant re-working rather than some simple number tweaks... What that means exactly is anyone's guess but it's been made clear that she will not be made into a healer... They don't want her to be "that pick you sometimes take on defense for the first point" but actually viable in a lot more situations...

They look alright to me really, they are trying to bring back characters that are rarely picked and making characters that are always picked slightly less essential.

Torbs armor collecting always usually put him in too much danger, so the regen is interesting. Buffing his hammer speed to make Level 2 turrets faster almost seems pointless having a level 1 turret to be honest.

That's a good D. Va buff though - And I do use her a lot :)

Playing in a group is the way to go.

Had a load of fun with two friends last night, but before one turned up a couple of us had a bad time with the random being killed pretty much instantly. Voice comms are king.

We even won one round with a Torbjörn a Symmetra and a Bastion :D I was the Torb, and managed to take out a Bastion on their team as the last two left.

1 v 1 seems to depend on luck - you get toons you are happy to play and you get an opponent that isn't better than you.

I'm sad, I've only just gotten used to Zarya and really playing her well. Shame she got a nerf :(

Don't despair, friend... firstly her actual damage output is still the same as before; the nerf is only to the rate of charge gained from shields and to be honest it was super easy to get to 100 charge before, it's only slightly harder now (previously each shield capped out at 50 charge so it took 2 good shields to max, now it's more like 3)...

Secondly, her beam has been fixed so that it actually hits people properly and in practice that "feels" like it more than makes up for the slight nerf to the charge rate

D Va's boost to 600 total health and shield is mega! with a decent healer, you can do some amount of tank/dmg etc.

Just had 31k damage/51kills, 4 golds in a match on comp.

The changes don't seem great to me.

Soldier is doing too much damage and Lucio just feels a waste of a pick outside of the speed boost. Pharah has been buffed a little too much. The nerf to Anas ult seems ott.

Soldier needed a buff to be fair. Everything he did mcree could do better as a damage dealer and he just wasnt a threat most of the time. As a soldier player who needed to always switch to mcree or reaper in ranked I am happy for this change. I would even take some damage for trade off in either speed or healing because his role is dps not surviving.

I think prior to this his damage was on par with bastion recon mode or sombra smg.

As said above soldier needed a buff and the increased spread means it takes a bit of skill to keep him in target. Pharah is how she should be, ie freedom of the skies! That being said a good pharah was devastating so god knows what they will be like now. Ana and Lucio nerfs are really good. It makes Lucio weaker at healing but the speed boost still means his attack viability is better than mercy. The ana nerf means the ultimate is no longer an I win button and has to be used carefully.
