Yep. Just a little difficult when every game so far we're getting matched with people who are like level 500 and level 600 when we're all around level 15. Ironically we're still winning most of them but it's really slowing us down as it takes 5-7 minutes every time to find a game and when we do it's usually a long drawn out battle.
I disagree. Consider the casual player, somebody who doesn't go and read guides about heroes/maps or watch Twitch streams etc etc. They're very much still learning the game and they're getting matched up against players who have hundreds of hours experience. Is that a fair contest? Of course it's not. The group I'm with are very fortunate we played before on a different platform, I feel awful for legitimate new players right now.
My only explanation for what is happening is perhaps something to do with ELO rating. The game is seeing something in our statistics and is throwing us up against killers. If that's the case I can't really complain I guess, be interesting to see what would happen if we were to lose 5 or 6 games in a row. The bright side to this is we are getting some good preparation for competitive.
Awesome, I should be on tonight if anyone is around. Though if you're getting matched with beasts it would be good to have a game or two to get back in the swing of it.
I have to put up Christmas decorations when I get home but I should be done before 9. I think all the other guys are on though. Just some friendly advice, Moe plays Ana but he's more interested in meleeing tanks than actually healing anybody so if you get into trouble don't rely on him =)
Haha, your post just proves why you should completely ignore the level.
You should be at a higher level as you have a lot more experience, and those level 400 players who have only ever played Bastion (for example) are useless.
The matchmaking (which is enabled even in quickplay) works rather well, and is based purely on an ELO inspired system which rightfully completely ignores your level.
Grinding to a high level is absolutely not an indicator of skill, only how much free time you dedicate to gaming
What I really appreciate is that the game matches groups together, so if you are a group of 2-3 you won't get stomped by a group of 6.
Edit: I've never read any guides or watched a second of Overwatch on Twitch but still manage to squish most "high level" players. It's those level 30s with new accounts on free play weekends that always get me.
Had fun on this again last night, though the first few games back didn't go to well. Good to get most of my placement matches out the way though, currently sitting at 3 wins, 4 losses. If I can pull it back and end 50:50 I'll be happy.
I tried out the 1v1 game mode too which on first impressions doesn't seem too well balanced as I seemed to stomp or be stomped. Still quite a fun if a little intense game mode to play especially as it forces you to play certain characters.
I should be on again tonight if people are going to be around
