Overwatch

For some reason tonight it's been throwing me in games with level 40+ players, I'm only level 9 and safe to say I'm getting my back side handed.

It's been fine for the last week, hopefully just tonight it's playing up.

Which Hero Should I Choose?

I'm at level 21 and it is getting a bit dull if I'm honest, it kind of reminds of how I felt with Titanfall - it's great fun initially but the lack of variety starts to drag and that's exacerbated by the lack of any meaningful progression.

The speed at which loot boxes are given out means the reward incentive is pretty small especially when they are usually full of stuff you don't even want.

I'm sure Blizzard will make some changes but the game really needs some new modes quite soon IMO, recycling the same maps would fine (and might be a good thing since 80% of the action in each of the current modes is played in about 20% of each map so it would be nice to play in more of them rather than just running through them on the way to the objective).

Only mastered one hero so far (Mercy), working on Pharah, although she's a total pain with the default joypad mapping, you can't aim and use the jetpack, need to find another setup that works, ideally bind L2 to jump as well as X so I still have the standard jump and then can hold L2 to thrust.

Either way, it's going to take ages to get to grips with all the heroes, I'm completely lost for the first few games with any one.

I do agree some reviews over sold it, this game is not close too be a 100/100 game. I've spent some 3,000 hours in TF2, so its actually 0 no content expect the maps. The maps are also amazing, I'm not sure how but it feels so natural, I could easily guess how too get some where, what other routes I could possible take, where heals should be even on the first play on a new map.

But mostly this game is a competitive PVP game. It doesn't really need a huge amount of content, LoL and DoTA2 have 1 map and 1 mode and thats it. Its all about mastering the heroes, and either taking it serious once the ranked is out, or relaxing in the casual game. So far what I've seen from the casual games are great. I like that I can get on for 30mins and just have fun then log out. No need to rank up too unlock something, no need to grind out guns, its just good fun. I feel the price depends on how much you will enjoy that experience, and enjoy PvP only games. My time on Destiny for example I think is 80% PvP and it used too be 90% before I started running more raids during TTK.

For me its worth the price, but yeah its not close too a perfect game for everyone. Also I think reviewers where just happy that they didn't suck at an FPS game for once. Also currently most big games are full off bugs too the point where its not playable at times (Division for example). I've not seen a single bug or even a hiccup which would have effected reviews.

I agree, it lacks the spectacle that I think is needed for such a high score.

But...then I think...if I'm rating this game as a game there isn't much that comes close to it from a critical point of view in its category.

It's a pure as a game gets, and it's hell of a lot of fun.

Every time I try a new character I'm impressed how well balanced the game is, and how well designed the support characters are. Really enjoyed a few rounds with Symmetra, good fun.

Personally its well worth the price, I can easily see years of fun too come.

Yeah, it was the first thing I noticed in the open beta, it was so extremely balanced. Balancing 21 classes, 21 ultimates is a very very tricky job and Blizzard has it right. I think they needed it too be very well balanced from the start, also the one thing that stuck out too me in the above review was that having 6 same chars is OP. Its the furthest from the truth, if you have 6 of the same heroes against anyone half decent your going too get completely rekt so quickly, if your playing bad players then you can run around and melee them at win so that doesn't prove much.

One thing that is annoying is the leavers penalty and how long it has stayed for so far. I disconnected earlier and have played numerous games and it's still on :(
