Overweight cat

Hi guys,

I'm a bit concerned about my cat which seems to be carrying a lot of excess weight. Could anybody recommend a good course of action. Obviously cutting down food intake is step in the right direction. In addition, is there any kind of exercise that he could take up?

Any advice much appreciated.

get a little running machine? oh and a cat lead! take it for walks

Make the fatty run!

Put him on a treadmill

Don't let him get to the state of borris though, that would be a disgrace

Take it to a vet. If it has any health complications causing the excess weight, they'll need to run tests to find the problem. They can also give you professional advice on diet and exercise for the cat.

Just noticed above Chester's Right eye there is a patch of hair that goes up to his ear where it's really thin hair...

Both of my cats had/have this too!

Yep, I have a spoon right here and I've seen plenty of pictures of Starscreams cats

Both of my cats had/have this too!

It's wierd they both have that, but Chester's is especially noticable. It's almost bald. Always been like it. Edit : It's above both eyes, you can't see it from that picture well though.

I have no spoons (only sporks) and never seen his cats so that means I've substantiated my statement apparently.

I left one of my cats with my dad for two weeks and he overfed her so she ended up overweight (she doesn't seem to understand when she's full!). My vet put her on a light cat food for several months, while monitoring her weight regularly. I think it's safest to go through the vet to be honest.
