Hi guys,

I've got one laptop that refuses to log into OWA, for any user. It just refreshes the login page after someone tries to log in.

I've tried different browers, I've tried connecting through the work connection and at home, both wired and wireless.

I get the same problem when using the exchange server IP on the lan, and through the external web address.

The only thing I can see in the server logs are a failed login attempt, which I get when I use anyone's credentials.

Code:
Logon Failure:
Reason: Unknown user name or bad password
 	User Name:	b.avery
 	Domain: futured
 	Logon Type:	3
 	Logon Process:	NtLmSsp
 	Authentication Package:	NTLM
 	Workstation Name:	FSG-LAPTOP-2

Any ideas?

The laptop was never on the domain or in AD, and OWA used to work.

We've got an identical laptop that also isn't in AD and that seems to be working fine

Is it Windows 7 on the laptop?
Probably not the cause but might be worth checking Credential Manager for any cached usernames and passwords.

I've seen this cause odd problems in the past with Outlook and OWA.

Was going to say the same. Wipe the credentials manager and try again.

Also, are you accessing OWA via SSL? If so, have you got the cert on the laptop?

Try resetting IE to default if using IE.

Tried using multiple browsers and also adding the page as a safe site?

Yeah it's a Windows 7 Laptop. I just checked the credential manager and there was nothing stored.

Thanks

Not using SSL, no. I've tried Chrome and Firefox and they're both doing the same thing. Resetting IE gives the same results too :(

had an odd similar issue once where the exchange alias for the user was different to the username.

it also stops mac mail working with imap for some reason.

I had a weird issue once where there was some derpy stuff set within "logon to" tab, give the computer\user accts a quick glance in AD, see if there is anything off in any tabs or anything.

A couple of other things you could check are that OWA is set to authenticate against the right domain and that the the OWA server is using the same DNS server as the Domain Controller. You may not have the machine you're logging on with in AD, but OWA still authenticates to an AD account, and if the OWA server is on a different DNS server it can cause difficulties.

Any reports back on this issue?

My thoughts were isolated to the laptop. Is there any software on it that might be stopping access? I'm thinking A/V or Firewall.

Hi, sorry no updates yet. Been quite busy at work and none of the users have needed to use it yet!

I'll make sure I take a look tomorrow.

Is the user/pass being typed or copied and pasted? It could be an issue with the keyboard layout if the former.

Sorted. Added the laptop to the domain and it worked fine.

I don't understand why though, the other identical laptop isn't on the domain and that works fine. Oh well.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
