Owning a French car, why why why?

When I was a teen I bought a Citroen AX GT because it did 0-60 in 9 seconds and was only insurance group 9, compared to all the other hot hatches which tended to be like 14,15 etc. I loved it. Cherished it. Fun, light and nippy. I knew french cars had a rep for being bad. Didn't care. It had a problem with the idle control valve, some random electrical gremlins and the clutch went (because I abused her). Otherwise it was ok.

We now own a Clio 2015 0.9 TCE petrol. Cheap to tax, run, insure. Goes well enough. Very pratical and spacious for a small hatch back. Boot surprisingly big. Can get 5 people in ok (fatties would struggle). Looks stylish. Super reliable so far. Good spec as we got the GT Line. In comparison to the competition it was a good option. Couldn't afford premium German stuff. Ford ecoboost and Pug engine equivalents have issues with wet belts.

I'm looking at a 308 Thp GT at the moment. I'm not sure if I'm mad or not.
My car failed it's MOT and I want a run about with 5 doors preferably but don't want a big Merc or Beemer..

Obviously fits in with the usual crowd, the Leon FR, Alfa Guiletta, Golf TSI, etc etc.

It looks quite nice and has a fair amount of grunt.
Is it a lemon?
