Owning a Sniper Rifle

Oh that just isnt fair. Had a healthy interest in guns for years now, and I have always wanted my own. Alas I have never had the place to shoot such an item so getting an FAC was difficult. :(

One day though :)

Are you being serious :p?

If so, I have no idea as the garden is my parent's domain.

Your mum or dad got no problem with you owning a replica (BB i assume lol) Sniper rifle?

Jesus, my old man flipped the lid when i brought home my first Replica 92F bb gun all them years ago.

lol quality thread...
a few links and some advice:

If you're serious about taking up shooting join a shooting club and get the feeling for the sport and some more info from the folk who really know what's going on and can offer practical, legal advice in this area before you try and get yourself all tooled up. Speak to your Firearms Licensing Officer (policeman) concerning licensing and Fire Arms Certificate ticket slots and safety requirements etc.

Shoot responsibly (see joining a club) and only on land which you have permission to shoot on and (in the case of FAC rifles) land that has been certified for that type of rifle. You might get permission for an FAC AIR rifle over a rimfire due to the size of the land in question. Again speak to FLO.

"Do it right or not at all." - A responsible air rifle shooter.

@ all those namby-pamby liberal knee-jerkers who say things like omg!111 it must be a serial killer, guns are bad mmm'kay? if you own one outside of the forces you must be a freak - Go back and play with your my little pony set as the only thing you appear to know about legitimate shooting in the UK would seem to be derived from sensationalist and inaccurate newspaper reporting.
Failing that (as already mentioned rather eloquently my MickeyD ) I don't remember it being a requirement of this message board to post negative comments about something you disagree with in a thread discussing such a thing. If you don't like it don't read or comment on it. Shouting 'I hate you and think you're a nutter' because of z, y or z adds nothing to the topic except your bile.

lmao "hippy pansies" indeed :D

Who gives two ***** if he wants to own one or not.

What's the big ******* deal if it just so happens to involve a firearm?

Mickey_D, i thought you would have known better and fully starred out your swear words :)

I agree that wanting to own one and actually getting one are two different things, however, he posted a thread in GD and as such he is going to get all sorts of opinions. Personal attacks about driving are silly and shouldnt be brought into the conversation however.

Nope. Mum doesn't like them but just thinks I'm wasting my money. My Dad would probably come airsofting with us if he was a bit younger as he's well into it.

>Shotgun_ned - that gun is nice! Something like that would suit me down to the ground.

I think I'd even manage to fire that one handedly, so I can drift my car at 50mph through red lights popping headshots.

Although seriously, I do like that a lot.

I want a new rifle. Used to do a lot of shooting when I was younger.

I still have a single bolt action shotgun at a friends farm..

Really need to move outwith the city :o

lol @ this whole thread

. You said the rifle uses remington 700, which is like centrefire 170, 222, 223, etc. Not bb :\.

Sorry but you and your landlord should not be shooting. :(

Please go and learn how to go about rifle shooting safely before you go out again. No responsible rifleman will take a shot before ensuring that his bullet, after passing through the target, will embed itself safely in the ground no matter what caliber.

What are you banging on about?

Do you expect someone to entice the rodent in question into a properly safe area, with a back stop, before firing?

I said its a Tanaka AICS, which is an airsoft rifle....

The REAL thing is based on the Remington 700 and with the AI chassis.

5 star thread.
Well done and thanks to All contributors :)
I also want a .50 sniper rifle to shoot random things but suffer the FPS affliction of not being able to point them at anything but Heads :p
Thankfully my Blood lust and craving for constant headshots is taken care of by playing BF2 more than i should.

In reality i know i am being ridiculous, Do you ? :p

The funny thing about this thread is that no one stopped to consider why you'd be so concerned with firearms legislation if you were actually intent on killing people. Christ if I were so inclined the last thing on my mind would be getting charged with a breach of firearms legislation.

ive got the same thing, imported it from WGC a few months ago. not a bad choice of airsoft sniper rifles :D

You're legally allowed to own bolt-action rifles with scopes - powerful enough to shoot birds from the sky with from a reasonable distance away. Real rifles too, not air rifles.

You need a good amount of land if you want to keep the gun yourself, like a few acres in cornwall. If not, it'll have to stay at the gun club - although I think you can fiddle it so you can take it home, probably have to get inspected or something... My mates dad is a firearms officer and has a few guns, legally.

Gun lisence I think needs a few people to sign for you, to say you're not mental :D

But I'd never shoot anything personally... Unless it didn't class as alive, like a clay pidgeon, or Osma Bin Laden ;)

I won't pretend playing with a gun wouldn't be really fun, though.

I picked mine up from ASCUK forums. It could do with some work to sort out the average accuracy, but other than that its one of the nicest airsoft guns I've ever held :D.

You can get bolt action .50 BMG AW50 rifle if you really wanted to, you just need to have a suitable place to shoot it and theres only a couple of ranges in the UK where you're able to fire a 50 cal. That and the ammo costs an absolute bomb.

You can own any calibre weapon so long as you have a reasonable excuse for wanting one and have a place to use it (range or large area of private land). I don't think the PSG-1 would be legal because its semi auto which I think would make it a section 5 firearm and they are pretty much impossible to own legally.

This man speaks the truth.

One of those 'suitable' ranges is about a mile away from my house :)

p.s. What Mickey_D said. I legally own firearms, and don't see why the heck I should be classed as some potential psychopath purely because I enjoy shooting
