My aunt arrived from Oz with her iPad. She asked me if I could get her a sim card so she can use it over here.

I can get one from 3 for £7.50 on a month to month contract, or Vodafone for £10. She won't be using it a great deal so 1GB is fine.

However I know Apple like to restrict things as much as they can. Would she be able to stick another SIM card in and have it work, or have they tied people's hands with that too?

I dont think iPads are locked at all, so it should work fine. Its really the networks that tie people's hands in this case, not Apple for a change :p

(Might be wrong though)

wouldnt one of those 3gb three month sims from 3 be ok? you might have to cut the sim down to fit though, only about £8, get it from a big online retailer

She's only over here for a month so the £7.50 3 deal or £10 Vodafone would do the job fine, without cutting down etc.

Edit : I did mean to ask... there's nothing I need to be wary of? No big obvious traps etc? :) Other than cancellation terms on the contract etc.

Not sure whether this place is regarded as a competitor, but a certain high street catalogue shop sells 1GB 3 micro sims specifically for the iPad for £4.99. The data is only valid for 1 month but it sounds like that will suit you fine :)
