Ok this is weird. The P key stopped working on my laptop, I assumed it was something wrong with the keyboard or something. Plugged in a USB keyboard and the P key doesnt work on the new keyboard either. Which is strange because it does work when plugged into my main PC.

Any idea what could be causing this? Im assuming its some software/windows issue but I honestly have no clue.

I'll have a p please Bob. That is such a weird random thing. If you enable the onscreen keyboard, does it work then? Do that from accessibility options. I suspect a refresh is in order.

Ive just tried this and the P does not work on the onscreen keyboard either...Im getting freaked out

Have been told by the gf that this might have been a kitten related incident. Cat was walking all over the keyboard. Wonder if hes pressed something that caused this.

if the P could be physically broken, maybe try temporarily disabling the onboard keyboard device before trying external kbd or onscreen
(with sharpkeys app can maybe diagnose if key sends any event - or redefine it if it is broken)

have you read the OP :p
afaik yes - what am I missing ?
- if the key on the laptop was constantly sending a 'P' event because it was physically broken, this might prevent P's from a usb/onscreen keyboard being heard,
so disabling the onboard keyboard in the device manager might help

Get a linux boot cd or usb stick boot from it
P key works = configuration / windows issue
P not worky = probable keyboard fault

PS What happens if you press FN key and then press p

After booting into safe mode about 10 times, it started working at last...Thank you all.

Still dont understand what happened but glad its working niw
