I bought a Toshiba P300 2TB drive about 3 months ago from ocuk.

About 2 months ago it started making a static/crackling sound once or twice a day for 30 seconds or so. CrystalDiskInfo, Windows error checking tool and Toshiba's own diagnostic tool do not report any problems and the drive seems to be working fine otherwise. It does leave me abit worried about the drive long term though. Everything important on it is backed up.

No other HDD I've used over the years have made this kind of noise, including 2 Samsung 1 TBs with almost 30,000 power on hours each. I'l try to capture a recording of the sound, it happens randomly though and I haven't mamaged a clear recording on my phone yet.

Should I just think about wiping the drive and sending it back? Thanks.

Drive is SMART healthy, even coming up clean on a quick error scan in HDTune (currently running a full scan).
