Hello all.

I have a P4 3.00Ghz running in a Asus P5S800VM motherboard with 2 sticks of RAM [2 X 1GB].

The thing is I've done everest benchmarks and checked CPU-z and the results show that my RAM is running in single channel mode.

My motherboard only has 2 memory slots so I guess the dual channel mode is not a feature of this motherboard.

The question how, how much performance does my P4 lose out on when running in single channel mode.

My graphics card is a AGP X1950PRO and the main game I play is WoW which doesn't perform all that good at a res of 1400X900.

Would a dual channel motherboard make games run better for me?

Thanks in advance.

can;t seem to find the details for that motherboard but going by its model number im gonna make the asumption that its a SIS chipset and micro-atx format so not sure if it does support dual channel mode.

now as for performance if it was a nforce2 board then dual channel mode hardly makes any difference on it, and with A64 its mainly timings that matter, but the P4......
everything iv read about to do with the netburst architechture says that it thrives on memory bandwidth. with the P4 the more memory bandwithd it has the better overall system performance is.

im sure someone else will correct me if im wrong here. but i rekon if your board is running in single channel mode then it is deffo hurting the cpu's and overall systems performance in games.
hopefully someone else will come along and shed some mode light on this.

not sure but do check out some reviews, im sure the performance loss if greater for p4 if running single channel mode.
ill check firingquead and anandtech for you in a moment and see what i can find.
