Hi all,

Just upgraded my P4 to a Q6600 G0, P5KC and 4GB PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2.

If I switch power off and then on at the wall and boot up, all fans spin up for a couple of secs, then wind down, and when nearly stopped kick in again and it boots. If I leave the power on at the wall it boots fine the next time.

I'm using the latest bios, but it was the same with the July revision it shipped with.

Any ideas what's up?

Cheers.

Newest bios came out oct or november, its what im using. Its 0804. Tho dont know best version to use

My P5k-WiFi AP does exactly the same. Apparently, its perfectly normal on many P35 boards.

Nothing to worry about as far as I know.

Does anyone know any different?

Very interesting.

I am running an Asus P5KC, 2GB Corsair, BFG 8800GT OC2, Intel 6750, Seasonic 600w, and a 250gb HD, with XP Pro, and suffer from a similar problem. Stock settings.

When my PC's been off for a while, it sometimes hangs on boot - simply a black screen.

Then, when I turn it off (using the PC power button, not at the wall), and restart, it gives me an option screen of going into Safe Mode, few more options, and also starting window at the last point that worked, which I choose and my PC starts ok.

I would love to know what is wrong, and fix it - I'm guessing a software driver issue.

Any help appreciated.

I have the Asus P5KC, 4GB of PC6400 and a Q6600.

I originally had a hanging problem where I had an external HDD attached via USB. It seemed to look for an OS on the device and just hang. This has stopped now for some reason. Although I no longer with the device attached.
