Hi There Guys, i've just bought some of that Geil Ultra 2gb DDR2 800 and after reading an article here. but for some reason i get loads of errors runniing it at right timings 4-4-4-12-20 so i have to let my board auto detect timings for it to run with no errors. im using a Conroe e6600 and An ASUS P5N32-SLI SE DELUXE, and windows x64 pro as i found the ram seemed to work a lot better in 64bit rather than 32bit. i have also tried 5-5-5-15-20 timings but still no joy. so i am now running @ 5-6-6-18-24 which arent that good , after reading the reviews here on how good this RAM was i thought it was going to be really good but im quite disapointed with these timings:( do you think it is the mobo not allowing it to run right. also this mobo is serious crap for overclocking i can only get CPU running @2.7gb stable.Any help would be really aprieciated. thanks Guy Russ.

of course its the mobo it just new out, so it aint going to have
that ram in its database, also it problay wont even run @ ddr800

why did you buy an nvidia 4 motherboard for conroe?

i bought this motherboard because i needed SLi with a conroe chip at the time there was no other 1 available and i couldn't wait for the nforce 5 series to arrive because at the time there was still no release date. it runs fine with DDR" 800 with the slacker timings and also at 1000mhz with some of the worse timings i have ever seen. but if i cant get these timing problems sorted im going to sell mobo with two 7900GTX's and go back to a pair of x1900's with a ASUS P5D HW, heard good things of these boards and aparently will clock my conroe to atleast 3.6 much better than my existing 2.7gb OC LOL!!

i know it sound stupid but for the last four years i have always had a AMD setup with a ATI Graphics card, so just after the AM2 was released i thought i had better sell my old Rig before i lost to much money, which was a Opteron 175 @2.8gb, ASUS A8R32-MVP deluxe, 2gb kit of Cruila Tracer DDR500 and 2 x1900's. so i never really admited that i was becoming a AMD/ATI Fanboy so i decided that i was going to make my own site reviewing different PC bits, so i though no i wont have a another AMD system i would go for a Intel Core 2 Duo and a pair of Nvidia cards to be a bit different for me and better for my reviewing site. so now i had some Nvidia's and a conroe, i must admit im very pleased with the conroe chip but not so happy with the nvidia's so i think ill end up just keeping the chip and memory and go for ati crossfire system again.

It's up to you of course.

I was in the same position as you in regard to wanting an intel/sli/conroe combination.

Hence I also chose this board...and it's running 4gbs of Corsair 6400c3 (ddr800) with timings of 3-4-3-9, voltage is set to default of 2.2, it went through 15 hours of prime95 x2 a couple of days ago without a single error.

It's possible that your memory is faulty, are you able to test it in another system?

Also check its voltage requirements, the BIOS will default to AUTO (which is actually 1.9v) for memory, so if those sticks require more than that, you'll need to set it manually.

Edit - having checked the site, I note that the GeIL is approved to operate anywhere between 1.9 and 2.3 volts, so try giving it a little more juice.

well im currently running at 2.2v was a bit worried about going to 2.3v as i didnt think geil were rated to run at that voltage will try now, and reboot and rum memtest. i left memtest going all night at 5-6-6-18-24 test did not report any errors for 10 hours  so i dont think ram is faulty. ill post a reply when i have have finished mem testing. thanks for your help. ;)

I'm using the same board / conroe but with G.Skill HZ Ram.

As far as CPU clocking is concerned i'm running at 2.7 Ghz stable too. Not tried pushing it further yet. Apparently during testing this board the max FSB Anandtech could get stable was 318Mhz, giving a max clock for the e6600 of 2.86 GHz. This board is a poor overclocker but this was well known before it started shipping, personally I just got it as I wanted an SLI motherboard.

As for the RAM, my G.Skill does 4-4-4-12 at 2.0v at 800Mhz.

right i have upped my DDR v @ 2.3v now running stable @ 4-4-4-12-20 DDR2800 :D
but wont run stable at 1000mhz  but atleast its running correct timings so 318fsb is the limit ill try and set cpu to that and see what happens ill post my results a little later thanks for the support guys.

Right set motherboard to 318fsb @ 2.86gb with ddr2 @ 2.3v 800mhz 4-4-4-12-20 all working good no errors, just tried 3d2001 cause im tryin to setmy new record with a x800 pro LOL not bad im 14th in the world witha a x800 Pro LOL!!!! with a total score of 37742!! well chuffed lol, cant wait to see what i can get with this card in the p5w dh at 3.6gb.

:D :D :D :D

You'll probably get a slightly higher overclock on the p5 wdh, but don't count on it, results have been rather varied with that board, I actually switched from it to this one.

By the way, don't take OC figures given in reviews as gospel, many simply don't test as thoroughly as you or I.

sorry to crash the thread guys ,but what chipset does the deluxe use ? reason i ask i know the p5n32 sli premium uses the 590 chipset when that comes out . is that the same as the deluxe or better ?

sorry to post so late, this is for morfik.

E6600 retail @ 318mhz at 1.425v
no other volts needed elseware apart from memorey @ 2.3v Geil ultra 800

thats it i can get into windows at 3.1g with a vcore of 1.55 at 344fsb but not stable i am working on still a beta bios but i think buy the second offical bios will be able to get stable 3-3.1gb. ill let you know when i've worked out this board.

hope this helps Morfik.

Cheers, been wondering why my mobo doesn't even POST with an FSB > 300Mhz when everyone else can get theirs higher, then I realised they're all using the beta 0305 bios not the original 0204. Flashed the new bios and now able to reach the same FSB as everyone else. Let's hope a future bios improves it further.
