Hey guys,

I would really appreciate some help with my problem, first i'll give you my specs

P5Q Pro MLB
OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5
E6600 CPU 2.4 clocked to 3.2

Now, I decided to buy another 4GB of RAM, the exact same set as above, so I now have 4 sticks of 2GB each. As soon as I start my pc I get no display, the PC is running, but my monitor seems to receive no signal. So, I reset my PC and on power up I was warned that my previous attempt at overclocking had failed, I pressed F1 to reset to default setting and my pc started up fine. I have tried just changing the FSB from 266 to 285 and still just a blank screen.

Now, I have next to no knowledge about overclocking, all I done in the past was just change the FSB up until my PC booted into windows (64 bit vista btw) and then I would stress test it and keep an eye on temps, I found that 3.2 was the point at which I could get into windows and seem to be stable. I have read the guides on this site and used google a fair bit, but I really do not understand what I need to do. I have upped the DRAMM voltage a little, CPU voltage and played with the dividers, but to be honest it's all guess work and I have no real idea what most of the setting options in my boot setup mean.

Thanks for taking the time to read, as I say, any advice would be great. I am hoping its a completely simple and easy thing I am not doing right :o
 
I think you will need to increase the NB voltage a notch or 2, as your running with all memory slots filled this puts extra stress on the northbridge, this may be shown as MCH voltage in the BIOS.

Also you might need to decrease your overclock, but see how you get with the NB.
 
Thanks for the quick reply, I have upped the NB voltage to 1.4 (I hear that anything above 1.3 on this board is not advised, but I 1.3 did not work) The FSB is on 266 by default, if I notch it up as little as 275 it fails, blank screen again.
 
Problem solved :D

I updated to the latest bios and manually entered my RAM timings and so far so good, CPU is back to 3Ghz and all 8 gig is accounted for. Out of interest, what is the idea temps for my CPU? At the moment it seems to float around 38 degrees.
 
Bah, it would not start last night. No idea what the problem is now. No amount of tinkering with voltages, timings and bios updates seem to work. I guess the bios update must have helped as I can clock to 2.6 and it seems to run ok.

I have noticed one thing, the new OCZ2G8004GK is rated at 1.9v and the one I bought last year is rated at 1.8, could this cause a problem at all? I am getting a little desperate now, I have no idea what to do from here :confused:
 
I am sure I have the same ram and it needs to be at 2.1 volts and is safe at 2.2 using 2.2 does not invalidate your warantee afaik
I would first try 2.0 if no good try 2.1 I have not gone past that.. Hope this helps some..

What speed are you running the RAM at? Try and keep the speed as near to stock for the time being and see if that helps.

I'm running 4 * 2gb Corsair PC26400C5 RAM in my rig below at a mobo FSB of 400 with no probs.
