P5W64 Professional cpu temp readings are way too high!

Running ORTHOS on mine at the moment - 4.3Ghz @ 1.4750v vCore in BIOS (which is actually about 1.49v vdrooped at load from 1.55v :()

Temperature according to PC Probe is 252 degrees C, which is obviously wrong. CoreTemp reports a solid 11C regardless of anything happening with the CPU, and Speedfan just doesn't report any temperatures at all.

I honestly dont know what to say, I think the temperature probes are whacked on this board because when I boot my Vapo I see a lower temperature in the BIOS than is actually on the front of my Vapo case (which I think is impossible).

My gut feeling is that you've got a faulty temperature sensor.

May get sorted with a new bios, i had loads of false reading with my DS3 until a newer bios came out.

Had a faulty temperature sensor :D

Im well shut of it.

Im going to monitor others who buy this board to see if there all like that.

I wouldnt hold my breath though, they havent fixed anything useful on my P5W DH yet.

Reboot bug is really annoying me :( Gonna have to remember to shut down instead of resetting whenever I want to restart my PC, plus my PC has booted with my Vapo having switched off twice now... managed to catch it by quickly restarting Vapo - but Im sure that cant be good for the compressor.

No Reboot bug here, still running ok, very fast motherboard boots into windows a lot faster than my DS3 did. :D

Cpu temp has droped 3c scince last nite..go AS5 :D

Well, it'd be helpful if you explained what BIOS settings you'd messed around with :)

To be fair, you've already got well over 1Ghz overclock on your CPU. Perhaps the question is not "is this too much to ask" but "am I asking too much" ? :)

ES pecially with my 6600! :D

Its begging for a decent mobo.

4ghz is in this chip I just need a good mobo to unlock it! :D

Me? PCI-X slots are useless unless you're running RAID cards. I went with the P5W64 with the anticipation that somewhere along the line we might see PCI-e physics cards worth using, or ATIs idea of having a third X1600/X1900 as a physics card.

Ta. Never seen the ATI article on the third card as physics, interesting. BTW does the bios allow you to unclock the multiplier upwards?

No :) No BIOS will allow upwards multiplier (above the factory setting) except on XE CPUs, and I don't think this is ever going to change. The XE is physically different to the other chips.

Just whent crazy and disabled a lot of stuff, anhoo look`s like i need a bios update to fix this . did a google on it.:D

can extreme editions unlock upwards on this board?

i have a feeling it can not on this board :o

I can only get 11x on the multy at the moment, but my DS3 was like that until a bios update then i could do 13x
