P67 memory

Why is 2x4 better than 4x2?

I bought my system with 2x4, but will most likely grab another 2x2 or perhaps even 2x4 set later on, taking me to either 8 or 12GB respectively, as my need for VMs increases.

I currently have Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit in my system from OCUK.

It's an Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.60GHz Sandybridge CPU.

If I want to add more memory, say the 2x4GB kit to make 12GB will this screw the OC settings?

Should I use take out the 2x2GB kit and swap for the 2x4GB kit?

If so.... anyone want a 2x2GB kit?

Regards,

Simpic

puts less strain on the motherboard, which in tern makes overclocking more stable and helps to make the mobo last longer.

i thought it was because with dual channel the second set of sticks would be slower access than the first sticks, that and you cant over clock as high

its better to pay the extra and get 2 4gb sticks
