i was looking to get a straight asus p6t motherboard as it highly rated in reviews and has 2 pci which i need for xonar and pysix card and i use sli so need 16x 16x or 16x 8x x8 pci-e.

question is there a lot of difference in features and cpu/memory bandwidth speed between P6t se > P6t > P6t deluxe > P6t deluxe v2 ?

also does anyone rec. the asus rampage 2 extreme? as i have been offered a 5 month old one from a m8 as hes upgrading? i could dump the pci physix and get another nvidia card in 3rd pci-e for physixs.

thanks everyone.

hi m8 and thanks for the advice but i had looked at that 3 months ago but all reviews didnt look favourable on it as on paper it looks fantastic as it cover all bases in chips and connection but performance and stabilty its at the lower end of the board pile.

thats why i chose to go with the board that most reviews rate but i will check it out again in a new review as things may have been updated since march/april

P6T-SE does not support SLI. Other than that, performance is identical between all P6 variants. P6T Deluxe may give slightly better OC's due to 16phase power regs, but I doubt either board would be a limiting factor for most people.

I own the P6T-SE and think it is a very good board. If you need SLI support the P6T will be better for you.

I have both the P6T SE and P6T Deluxe V2...the difference between the two? I have been able to OC my 920 to 4.2GHz on the latter...but its not stable so I am waiting to get water cooling parts before going further on it :D but dont get me wrong the SE does its job where it is required :D

This is exactly what you need..

Asrock SuperComputer Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

no

just no

my opinion would be to get a ud5
dont bother with the asus boards
i have used my p6t deluxe and it was good - but nowhere near the ud5 [which is basically the gigabyte extreme board without the fancy northbridge block

I know that the difference between the P6T deluxe and the P6T deluxe v2 is the SAS controller (it was removed on the v2).

There are no bad X58 boards so just go with one that has the features you need/want, or brand preference etc.

Wouldn't the P6T deluxe be the board to get for SLI though (opposed to the rampage II extreme or other non asus brands). Seeing as P6T deluxe is not setup for 3 way sli (with dual slot cards) like a lot of X58's, the top 2 16x slots instead have a bit of extra spacing so your dual slot cards won't be on top of each other, plus you can get a soundcard in there. I have not seen many boards with this layout. And seeing as 3 way sli is bit of waste, wouldn't the p6t deluxe be better for your gpu's if going say SLI or Crossfire with 2 cards. Or am I wrong ?
