8Pack can you help me please im having some problems with my motherboard. The problem im having is sometimes it will not boot. It makes a single beep but the display stays off and the vga light is on by my gpu. If i turn the machine on and off again it normally works fine. Its fully stable in games and stress testing. The Q codes when it gets stuck booting are usually 93, 95, 96 and 98. Usually its 93, but it does vary sometimes. A couple of times it has not booted and the motherboard has left out a long beep followed by 3 short beeps. I'm out of ideas.

WHat method of OC you using mate. Some ASUS boards cold boot now and again with manual rather than offset OC mode.

Have you tested with no Overclock at all and then just OC on CPU as maybe the issue lies with the RAM at boot only and IMC heat whilst training.

Play with IMC voltages and see if this helps.

Let me know how this goes and anything else you observe whilst testing.

THanks mate, appreciate the reply.

Well i decided to send the board back. I'm impatient and well, it shouldn't be this much hassle. I've ordered the same board but brand new this time instead of a refurb. Hopefully the new one works ok.

To answer your questions though, i was using offset voltage. PLL over volt was disabled. I tried experimenting with VCCIO all the way up to 1.2v, made no difference. I did not try at stock, i must admit. I will do that tomorrow morning, just to see if it still occurs before i return it.. Either way though i think im sending the board back as i got a decentish price on a brand new one. (£227) Lovely board, just this one issue with the boot. Had no trouble getting my 16gb of sammy green to 1T either copying your seconds and thirds all the way.

Test at stock man!!!

This is a must as one stick of memory etc could be the problem.

Phew, thats a relief. It does it at stock settings as well. (cpu 3.9ghz memory 1600mhz 11-11-11-28-2T)

Two boots were fine. Third boot pc beeped, no display monitor stayed off. VGA Led was on and Q code error 93 was displayed.

8Pack,

Got my new board, working perfectly so far.

I was wondering if you can help me tweak my thirds? I've not had much luck playing with them. Can you recommend some settings? I will attach a picture of my current seconds and stock thirds. Cheers.

Work on seconds first.

Refresh interval 7936 and TWCL 7 would be a nice boost.

Then try and dial down
tRRSR and tWWSR.

Cool thanks will try those out. Which one is TWCL?

EDIT

Google says its write cache latency, i see that one.

EDIT 2

Booted ok with both of those tweaks. Will run intel burn test for 20 runs and report back. Cheers.

Dude you could have bought a Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 for less then you paid for this board.

What's the difference? I got this board as i wanted x16 x16 crossfire and i like and am familiar with Asus boards. I can also go tri fire at a later date if i decide to with x16 x8 x8.

Passed interval 7936 and TWCL 7, 20 runs intel burn test stable. I can feel the system booting quicker, amazing. I want moar!!

How much should i reduce tRRSR and tWWSR by?

EDIT

I can't reduce them any further, 4 and 4 is as low as they go 8Pack. I can't select 3 and 3 in the bios, only higher numbers..

8Pack is there anything else i can tweak or improve? tRRSR and tWWSR will not go any lower than 4 and 4.

Increase volts then man. That is always am option.

Will do.

So far got those timings stable at 102.1 BCLK with volts still at 1.575v and VCCIO at 1.100v. Get errors over 103 BCLK so am going to settle for 102.9, just need to get it stable.

8PACK what is CLK Period and is it worth me tweaking it? If so what would you recommend based on my specs, memory amount etc? Cheers pal.

8Pack ive made a new discovery. Dram refresh interval 7936 is not stable, unless i change the command rate from 1T to 2T, then 7936 is stable. If i use Auto on dram refresh interval then it auto picks 8320 and 1T is stable again. Which is the best option to choose? Should i try a different Dram refresh interval?

EDIT

Ignore 2T just isn't stable with 16gb. 1T is stable with 8gb. I'll have to live with 2T but im using the rest of the timings in the screenshots above + your recommendations.

Yeah fine. Just switch to 8gb when benching and almost stable should pass all but 11 Physics which hits RAM hard.

Cool. Can you tell me what DRAM CLK Period is and what setting i should use? I'm using CL9 at the moment, i read 5 is best but the pc wouldn't boot with that selected. From some quick testing 3, 7 and 9 are stable or appear to be.
