P8Z77 WS

8Pack i need your expert help. I admit defeat. I've got 8GB stable @1.65v with timings of 9-10-10-21-1T, seconds of 4-88-10-4-20-4-4-7 and thirds auto. VCCIO 1.1v VCCSA 0.925v, PLL 1.75v. Rock solid stable, passes all tests.

16GB on the other hand im having more trouble with. The problem is i can get it to pass intel burn test, but upon next restart or when i power off my pc its unstable again. So something is up. Can't seem to get 1T stable with 16GB at all, however im now having trouble tweaking secondary timings for 16gb. Can you give me some settings and voltages to try? I'm at my wits end trying different combinations. I've tried similar timings with 16gb but its not working, even with 1.7v and VCCIO 1.2v. I'm tried putting the TRFC down (296) for example with the timings above when using 16gb and it passed intel burn test. I then restarted, lowered it some more and tested again and it was unstable. Upon putting it back to the old settings, its now unstable at that. That's what's confusing me.

Try 9-12-12-21 1T first primary. TREFI auto, TRFC 156 and TWCL 8 put the thirds to auto appart from TRRSR 5. Let the memory do a full train so ideally do full bios reset and then input these settings.

Thanks, will try that.

However something weird has happened, it appears that after using Dram Read and write additional swizzle every thing appears to be stable, or almost stable. I just passed 10 runs on intel burn test and failed on the 11th run. I've added a touch more vcore and am testing again.

I don't understand why swizzle appears to have solved the problem, but it seems to have. I need to complete a full intel burn test, but i think a touch more vcore will get me there as although it failed the number fail was similar to the pass number.

I also copied some of your settings from this thread. The slew settings. No idea if this helps or not.

I've now disabled MRC Fast Boot as well. Previously i would disable it, get things stable restart and enable it. A day later or another restart or two later the system would be unstable again. Confusing as hell. Since i enabled read and write swizzle, its not done this, though its still early days and it could mess up again tomorrow or something.

Here's what im currently using (if this fails intel burn test i will try your timings above and start over) Will post back in a bit and let you know.

The fast boot disabled will force training on start up so this is a good idea.

Yes those slews are ideal for Sammy. Not used slews for as while as I don't touch Z77 these days unless I am needed to test very specific issues.

The Read and Write Swizzle Enabled often helps this stuff. It should only be disabled if going for RAW frequency and not at all bothered about stability.

Voltages VCCSA is too low Stock is 1.05 v For higher clocks and multi memory I suggest tuning from 1.1 v upwards.

Right, will increase that to 1.131v in the bios. Will go higher if required. I almost passed Intel Burn Test, failed on the 18th run so getting closer. So far after rebooting, no major stability issues, just not quite IBT stable yet. Still early days but i think the read and write swizzles have solved the problem. I noticed that my cpu vcore now needs to be a bit higher as well, maybe due to the tight timings on the seconds. Also bumped dram up to 1.675v to see if thats causing the fail towards the end of the test.

Do you play Intel burn test!!! Come on man!!! Thats stable enough for like 99.99% of everyday uses.

All these tighter timings will put stress on the CPU but I am sure no everyday application will give you the heat of IBT. This is probably why its falling over so late in the run.

Lol yeah i do use it a lot. Temps top out at around 83c with my h100i. IBT is time consuming for sure but it does normally produce consistent results, though since ive been tweaking my seconds its not been working so well.

I've got memtest on a usb stick, could use that. Any specific test?

Could re-download SuperPI. What do you suggest?

I'm just trying to get the best possible memory performance, speeds, read write and ensuring the pc is 100% stable so i can relax and play games, at 5ghz. :D

Yeah maybe man. Will try some other stuff . I will do one last run though, as i feel im close. :D

Its weird though, 1T was never stable, yet swizzle makes it stable and now you can see what ive done with all the timings. All copied from your tuning thread. Took the lowest timing for each secondary i could find in your tuning guide. :D

Cheers for the help. I will post back with an update, but its looking good so cheers.

I recon its fine I honestly do!!!

Your games etc are the best tests.

Ok this is Intel Burn Test 20 runs of very high stable. :D

Is it worth me tweaking the thirds?

TRWDR used to fail to post at any lower than 4, as did TRWSR. The only ones that were tweakable on 2T (before i discovered swizzle) were TRR(DD) and TRR(DR) and TWW(DD) and TWW(DR). The others are all as low as they can go. Not sure if this has changed now i have 1T stable and tight seconds with swizzle slews enabled.

Should i tweak DRAM CLK Period as well? Don't really understand this one and its not mentioned in your tuning guide.

EDIT

Here's my Aida speeds and latency. Memtweakit does not work for me, i guess because i have a P8Z77 WS board.

Not sure if those read/write speeds are good for 2133mhz on sandy or not.

I just had a red screen of death whilst playing Crysis 3 for 30 minutes. I've added another notch of dram and vccio voltage.

EDIT

Seems it needed tad more cpu vcore.
