PAC codes questions

My contract with vodafone finishes on 14th April. I've been told I can get my PAC code from them from 1st April. If I want it before then I will need to pay for it.

I'll be getting the N95, but my question is if I pre-order one now will they require my PAC code? or can I phone up the new network (Orange) with my PAC code after I've taken out the contract with them to get my number ported over?

Fortunately for you, Orange are one of the only networks that will let you port your number across at any time during the contract - so there is no need for you to have the PAC code in advance of your purchase.

(Disclaimer: this was true last time I heard - I'd ring Orange to confirm it still applies)

Orange let you port 28 days after your contract starts ;)
