Pacific Fighters?

Pacific Fighters is more of a Sim and I would reccomend am Analogue Joystick for Sure as there are keyboard controlls you will need while you are flying.

I played PF quite a bit and was daunted by all the controls at first. However, I posted an A4 sheet on my desk to refer to and its surprising how quickly you learn them. If you get this game, I would recommend also buying IL2 Forgotten battles and the Aces Expansion pack and install PF as an upgrade.

This is because for online play, most people have the IL2 base prog installed and there are a lot more servers available. Also make sure you get the updates. (note these arnt executable files: you need to unzip them and put the files in the appropriate folders; at least that used to be the case: I havnt played online for a while)

Im not sure if it has been updated now, but when I played, it was neccissary to use a seperate program to find servers as the server browser in the game doesnt work. The program is called HyperLobby and can be downloaded from http://hyperfighter.sk/

If you have a number of people you know with the game and have a third party prog like Teamspeak running it can be a really good online experience, especially as you can create your own missions and play them co-operatively online. Comes reccomended!

I got the game with my new card, ive got an xbox 360 controller, if it was too hardcore though, i doubt id be able to get into it.

Thanks for the help though, ill install it and see how it plays, ive always been keen on the idea of flight sims without ever really getting into one when ive bought any in the past :)

All I'll add is good luck on finding a copy of the Aces Expansion Pack (AEP) anywhere. I've been looking for ages now and still can't seem to find anywhere with it in stock!

I have IL2:FB and PF already, yet I can't fly online as the majority of people already have all three installed.

Wow a year is a long time in gaming. I bought IL2-FB + AEP as a bundle last year from an online store used (although it certainly looked new) for about 20 odd quid. Now the same store is offering AEP only for 50 quid! (2 in stock apparently...)

I really enjoyed the game although i wasnt very good and only ever managed to complete a few missions, if you get good though id imagine its more rewarding than almost any other genre going.

While i was playing it had to be the biggest virtual rush ever, its very hard to hit another aircraft and the plane only has a couple of seconds worth of ammo so taking out a zero in a five minute long dogfight was really quite a rush, taking abit of damage and then limping back to your carrier hardly able to keep it steady and then come in for a landing where everything has to go right first time or you dead is also a fantastic high.

A hard game to master/get in to but a great game if you have the time.

Its a great game and if you have the hardware it looks fantastic, takes a while to get into but its well worth it. If you have a decent setup then LOMAC/Lock-On is worth a look, again it takes a while to get into but with both patches instaled and using the add-on utilities available online it also very good.

I totally concur! If you like fast jets then Lock-On is probably the best piece of simulation software you can buy. Like mentioned above though, you do need a rather beefy system to get it running at decent settings. If you can run it, then you will be more than happy with it. Plus, it's only a tenner too.

I got this game with my Powercolour X1800XT and have to say it's a very visually poor game to bundle with a cutting edge video card.

You also need to download 3 patches to update the game and tbh it's not worth the effort imo.

Very poor (imo)

Cheers Pumaz :) I'll give it a miss, although I do remember looking at a review and thinking the same - I'll bring out LOMAC, FS9 and IL2 I think :)
