packard bell easy note screen broken

hi all.

my packard bell easynote screen has gone,i know its a old model now but the actual laptop is ok for browsing the web and a few flash games.

what i want to do is still use the laptop but hook it up to my 32"lcd.

now,with the screen broken i cant switch over screens for obvious reasons.

is there a function i can use to switch it over please.

ive got it hooked up via vga lead and have tried a few things but nothing works.

any help would be great

Yes there's usually a FN key along the top, looks like two displays side by side, hold the FN key and press that to switch.

tried the function keys and nothing happens.

might be the graphics card then ?

does spill out a lot of hot air !
