After some info on page files. At work I'm running 3DS Max 8 on Windows XP Pro and lately with complex models it's been giving me "your system is running out of memory" messages.
Now the PC has 2GB of ram and the page file was set to 2gb-4gb (initial 2gb). I've noticed with the task manager that the Max gets up to about 1.5gb of ram, using a maximum of 2.2gb of page file, then throws a wobbly.
It never ever uses more than 2.2gb of page file.
I even tried telling Windows to manage it itself but that didn't work and then I tried setting the page file to 4gb-8gb (initial 4gb) but it still wouldn't use any more than 2gb.
Can anyone shed any light for me please ? The hard drive has about 30gb free space on it.
Ta for any advice, other than buy more ram
