pagefile.sys

I dont particularly want to, it's just showing up as a huge red row in my Defraggler and i wondered why it wont defrag :)

u could always use a different hard drive or partition for the page file...then defrag the drive you are attempting.
then put it(the page file) back if u so wish

For the pagefile.sys to defrag, the volume upon which it is needs to be "locked" by the OS, and it can't do this if booted into Windows, so it is done on a reboot.....PageDefrag

However, I don't think Defraggler's estimation for defragging the pagefile is correct, and I would be inclined (if you are really bent on doing it) to rather than defrag it, simply delete it, and recreate it...

Honestly i dont care that much about defragging it, i just wanted to know why it's not defragging. I think i get the picture now :) thanks!
