Paid for software

What do you use on your computer )not thinking photoshop but more power user type things). Any specific recommendations?

The only one I will make (other than things like evernote which I am sure a lot of you use), is J River Media Centre. It is an amazing player!

I always thought a power user would be the type more likely to use photoshop than a media player.

I kind of mean hacks and tips rather than being just listing "i just illustrator" or whatever, you know. Add ons and stuff, useful programmes.

Standard set of software looks something like: gcc gfortran python perl gdb valgrind emacs sbcl fossil virtualbox. They're all open source though.

Paid for is pretty much only windows 7 and visual studio, though one of these days I'll set up a set of various OS/compiler combinations for integration testing.

Office 365 and Minecraft are literally the only paid software on my PC right now. At some point I'll add a few more games

Everything else is Free and/or Open Source. I stopped using Adobe Suite a few years ago when I stopped doing design work, GIMPshop does enough for the moderate amount of unprofessional image editing I do these days.

For work:
Office 365, Visual Studio and SQL Server.
For just playing about:
FLStudio and Ableton.
