As per the title, my company pays us the last day of the month - like most here, no doubt.

We have always got paid automatically 12:00pm, upon wakeup of the last day of the month the money is in the account.

However, each month things seem to getting worse. Last month we did not get paid until 9pm on the last day, this made a few things a little awkward for a few members of staff and a few panicking.

Is there any legal obligation to pay us by a certain time or as the contract states, the last day of each month so legally they can pay us 11:59pm if they please ?

Why are you worried. You get paid on the last day so so long as its there on that day what's the problem.
What happens if it's a Sunday?
Ifs it's direct debits that are the issue arrange them for a couple of days later.

I get paid three working days before the end of the month And usually in from midnight on that day.

Not sure what is required by Law, but BACS payment is 3 working days.

I get paid weekly and mine goes in as yours, first thing in the morning, no idea why there would be a slight delay.

Im not, but a few members are worried, they no doubt have DD setup. It just seems to be an issue every month and a few people get very very uptight when they do not see it hit their bank at 12noon. I just wanted to know the general consensus or if there is any legal obligation

I get paid on the last day too, not had this issue. But as said, why the panic? Surely kick up a fuss if you have not been paid on Monday, but why can't things wait until the evening?

People just panic, they are so use to seeing it hit their account upon checking first thing in the morning. when it's not there panic sets in!

The usual i have a morgage, bills etc to pay i want it in my account "NOW" statements are thrown around and becomes a very uneasy place to work for one day a month :D

Just to let you know not everyone has enough cash to tide them over when they don't get paid. I used to get this attitude from a guy at my work when I didn't get paid one week, 'just wait til next week and they'll pay you double he said' but that doesn't get you food or pay the rent in the meantime.

If you have DDs set up that come out on your payday or even the day after and things like this happen, you can get hit with bank charges and have to hassle of having to field calls from companies asking why their withdrawal failed.

Weekly at the moment, every thursday.
Saying that everywhere I work for gets my wages right and in on time because they know I'll hit the ****ing ceiling if they don't.

This is the attidude of the staff, its a very "personal" thing no doubt and they like to see it hit upon wakeup. The longer it goes through the day people become very uneasy.

Consultants will pay their own expenses all month so its not uncommon for their wage to be astronomical when they are claiming everything back from the month if they have been away, so this i can understand !

I get paid the last working day of the month too. I just set all my direct debits to come out on the 1st of each month so I'm safe.

It also gives me 1 whole day to see some money in my account before rent/bills/life takes 90% of it :(

Tell these people that if they have direct debits set up to go out of their account so close to their pay day that they are "worried" when they get payed less than half a day late that they are the ones doing something wrong.

Same here :)

get paid 13 times a year and with one month getting paid twice which ,means no bills one month of the year :):):)

4 weekly is a pain.

And you don't gain an extra month, you just lose a chunk from the other months to cover the 13th, so in effect gain nothing.

Long live monthly pay!

This lol, they are holding 8% of your wages hostage every month to pay for #13 :p
