I was bored with the green paint, so I bought some satin black paint and painted the Defender in true ***** Land Rover style with rollers and brushes:

Well happy with that, total cost of colour change about £40, another one of the joys of owning an old Landy ;)

Buy a £250 DVLA plate and that will look nothing like a 25 year old car. So timeless.

Seriously tempted to do just that actually. It's true though, the only thing that really gives away the new ones is the bonnet bulge, other that that it's a classic timeless design, just a shame Land Rover probably won't be making them for much longer :(

Only landy enthusiasts know that. I wouldnt know whether yours was a 1989 or a 2004 or whatever without the plate giving it away.

Indeed, they basically haven't changed since the Defender was introduced :)

Why are you so keen on hiding a cars age? Is it just a vanity thing?

I'm not particularly interested in what other people think of my car, but if I did I'd like to think they thought something along the lines of "oh wow, that's in lovely condition for a 23 year old car", rather than fool them into thinking it's newer than it actually is.

A lot of people are oblivious anyway.

I was asked how I afforded such a new car in reference to my Y plated Mk4 Golf by someone at work a couple of years agoo :p

Love it!

Do you have any close up shots of the paint? Interested to know what the finish is like :)
