Painting calipers

i got the £5.49 stuff from halfruads.

High temp engine paint. (that should be ok yea?)

If its marked on the tin as high temp, or high temp enamel engine paint or something, it'll be fine.

Also, yep, only paint the red areas. Take your time, masking off to prevent painting parts you shouldn't.

You should be ok doing the hub aswell.

I'll be inclined to paint that black, as it'll look better. But it's his motor, I'm sure it'll look fine once he gets it completed.

I need to redo mine soon. I'll paint mine black though, if I can ever be bothered to do it.. :D

ok once i have painted them, how long should i leave the car before using it again?

However long it takes for the paint to cure. Your tin should give guidance. If not, depends on the type of paint being used.

You "could" stick the wheels back on again and drive off. but if the paint isn't dry all the road dirt will stick to them... Nice..!!

so if it is touch dry i should be ok then.

basically i have work at 6.30pm, will be able to get them painted by 4.30 (i hope) just wondering if i should just walk to work tonight lol

Why rush? Can't it wait until you have a bit more time on your hands..? It's really a weekend job, as you need to clean the dirt off first, rub with a bit of wire wool in places, wirebrush etc to loosen off the rust and dirt... Quick rinse over, allow to dry.

and then mask up and paint. It takes a little longer then you think I feel.. I'd leave it until you have more time mate..

i got one side done (well still wet paint put you know)

everything look ok??

Like I said, I would have spent an entire day or perhaps even weekend (letting them dry overnight) and removed the entire caliper from the car.

Looks "alright" though.

If you're going to bleed your brakes, you can use the old fluid to buff any minor scratches out of your bodywork. It works a treat...

The LAST thing I would EVER put on my car paint work would be brake fluid.
I cannot tell if you are being serious or sarcastic?

I've started keeping a square vodka bottle half-full of brake fluid on the passenger seat of my car...

Lets see you steal it after necking some of that, ***** scum.

PS: If it wasn't so obvious, I was being sarcastic about the rubbing-out scratches thing ;)
