Guys,

My refurb is finally getting to the stage where I can do decorating.... FINALLY!

However in the kitchen this is the one area where we have not had re-plastered, the previously over was a TOTAL bodger! so the plaster is not smooth.

After a lot of work and sanding this is now smooth again, however the old paint which he had a SINGLE coat of on there and no prima/undercoat is now quite patchy after the sanding. I have scraped as much as I can off and every bit that is flaking I have wire brushed.

How should I now go about painting over this? any recommendation on a Prima or a Undercoat?

Thankyou!

These are not newly plastered walls though? These are pre painted but sanded back as much as possible so there is patches of raw plaster, but patches of old paint also

Just water the first coat down very slightly then. Or tbh if its not much bare plaster ( small small patches) just paint as normal. Get a tub of white emulsion (crown etc) put that on as a first base coat then use your decent paint for your top layers. White base colour also makes your final colour pop more, as long as its not white :p

Even small patches of bare plaster I would still paint with a 50/50 coat first, then give whole a coat.
