Hi all,

Quick detailing question. My car has pure guard/super guard type paint protection. I was jut wondering if I can clay bar or wax it without detriment?

Many thanks

Clay barring will generally remove everything, including LSP so only clay if you are prepping for a correction / glaze / polish type approach.

If its a maintenance wash just give it a 2 bucket wash with a mild concentration of LSP safe shampoo

Ok thats fine but how do I get rid of all the ground on gunk? of which after 3 years of maintenance washes there is a fair amount of, particularly dead bug related :)

What do I call the process of covering car in water, using car shampoo in warm water and rinsing with cold water from a tap ?

I find that after a hot day in the office, my balls often require a full detail. Maintenance washes are more for the cold weather.

I have an excellent fluffing brush for when I really want to go to town, but I never use wax. Never use a stiff brush unless you want epic swirl marks. A little shampoo and a sponge down helps keep things looking fresh and a quick polish keeps the streaks at bay.

Its a Quick Wash as opposed to a Full Protection Detail. Whats difficult to work out

Of course it is.

I buy into car cleaning products more than the average person (just spent over £70 on sonus pads and polishes), but what you have described is "washing the car", nothing more, nothing less.
