Lol, reading that I can't help but think about Robin Williams live on broadway saying.

"Christians have easter, Jews have Honica, and Muslims have that holiday called... ... ... KABOOM"

Maybe I'm thick but erm, why is a Pakistan festival being held in Britain?
For Pakistani people, or people of Pakistani heritage living in Britain I'm guessing.

Everyone draped in George Cross's, wailing and shouting at the top of their voices burning effigies of Musharraf?

You've pretty much got any England sports fan on foreign soil there. Woops, wait, that's an unfair generalisation...

Indeed.... i guess those British Passports didnt mean that much to them at all?

Do they regard themselves as British or Pakistani? Does it depend what generation they are?

You are just being your usual xenophobic self.
Not at all. If Pakistanis want to celebrate Pakistan in their own country then good luck to them :)

I don't think it even depends on generation because plenty of them who were born in Britain still seem to have more allegiance to their native country.

Same goes for micks and their little potato day parades, but no one seems to give a toss about that. Its only when they're brown do people have a whinge.

As someone living in London, it's fine with me - it all adds to the vibrant multi-cultural feel that London has which makes it the greatest city in the world

I think it's pretty cool as well that I don't have to go all the way to Pakistan to sample the culture and cuisine of the country but instead have it on my doorstep, and next weekend there'll be something entirely different going on to check out.

London f.t.w. :)

You see if it was me, i'd want to try to help my own country not bog off to another country which will never be home to me. But i guess money is where the true allegiance lies.

Well you know what I think, if they like Pakistan so much then I suggest that their experiences of celebration will be heightened if performed on Pakistani turf...

Or perhaps the parade is more about a rally for political identity within the UK. To seperate and segregate.

For the same reason that the British Museum holds exhibition on Egypt? You know, learning about other cultures and stuff...

No, don't mean to P on your Parade but as a nation they have very little to celebrate.

Ancient Egypt?

Anyways, I'm not against it myself, I just think its a little random...

why do we need a parade? Walk down some streets in most major UK Citys and your in Pakistan!!! Music, food, "culture" smells and all.
