suarve said:Just bought DOA4 and noticed i had to switch my tv mode to PAL 60 in order for me to play. If i leave it at this setting will my other games be affected?
Psyk said:PAL60 is better anyway. If possible you'd probably want to run all your games in it.
Yeah the problem is developers often don't alter the game mechanics to compensate for the different framerate, since it's usually used for timing. Although I'm not sure that's the case with games these days. Even so it'll run smoother in pal60.Bigpops said:That's the truth, and has been since the Snes and Megadrive games. Remember the PAL version of Streetfighter II on the Snes? Boy was that slow. Why? 50 frames a second, not 60. A 16.5% difference.

Good point. Also I remember reading there was another difference between Pal50 and 60. I think it was pal60 does colour the same way as NTSC which is technically inferior to pal50. Not sure about that though.dirtydog said:True most of the time, but some console games actually run smoother at PAL50, because it can maintain a constant 50fps easier than it can 60, so instead of staying at a smooth 50 it fluctuates between 30 and 60. There are a few games on the Xbox (1) like this that I've come across.
In fact, for people who are having framerate issues on their xbox360 while running at pal60, you might find it improves if you run at pal50![]()

Psyk said:Surely if you're running it in HD you don't have to worry about PAL settings? I thought HD was a completely different (and superior) standard.
You normally don't, i.e. Oblivion and Dead or Alive 4. However, you do need to on Top Spin 2.Psyk said:Surely if you're running it in HD you don't have to worry about PAL settings? I thought HD was a completely different (and superior) standard.
