PAL ps3 backwards compatability

Highly unlikely, something would have come to light after this length of time. Why would they remake FF7, exactly what would they achieve by doing that?

The game is great as it is, it doesn't need a modern remake.

A huge amount of money as millions of people would buy it.

Could it be something to do with multiple discs? Are there any other PlayStation games out there that come on more than one CD/DVD?

Yes final fantasy 8 and 9 both of which are on that list.

Both Final Fantasy 8 and 9 are multiple cd's, and they both play 'with minor issues' apparently.
So i can't see that being the problem.

In my opinion it would not be in Squares best interest though. The risk of remaking FF7 could do the company more harm than good.
If they did make it with modern graphics, interface, etc.... Then it could loose much of it's appeal as the iconic game in which it is. It would have to be something very special to top the original and a plain remake would not satisfy its many fans.
A sequel is what many people would love to see and they would probably be slightly annoyed if a remake was done instead of a sequel. I know i would (although i don't think a sequel should be made either).

If im honest, You are the first person i've ever seen who has said a remake of FF7 would be a bad thing :p

I for 1 love the original, And if they were to make final fantasy 7 over, for the PS3, if that tech demo was anything to go by, It could be nothing short of the most amazing game ever made. How could they wreck it? They make it exactly like the old one, Only make it beautiful by modern terms.

As long as they don't do anything silly, like changing story line. Or removing characters. It would be probably one of the best selling square games.

It would be nice however, if they upped the difficulty a little bit. As the game was quite easy if you maxed your stats.

WOW, kinda off topic, But ohwell :p

1,782 of 2,451 games work...

That is an absolutely staggering number of games! As the US/JAP models feature PS2 chips, do they play all NTSC games then?

I suppose the one saving grace is that we can be expected to see patches that allow more of the 2.4k ganes becoming compatible?

It's not on the list because it obviously does not work. What relevance would a remake have on whether the original game works on the PS3 or not?

So that people would buy the remake..

MS seem to have witheld backwards compatibility for certain games on the 360 which may have impeded the sales of modern titles, such as Project Gotham Racing 1 & 2.

What would they acheive by remaking FFVII? Probably selling thousands, if not millions, of copies. Which is afterall the ultimate purpose of making video games.

Just do a search for FFVII remake and you'll see the massive interest there is in the subject.

Erm... too late :p

There are already two sequels, although neither really count as FFVII-2. They are more like spin-offs really. Especially considering one of them isn't even a game.

Could the omission of FFVII possibly indicate that there's a remake in development for the PS3?

Been rumours about it ever since the tech demo in '05.

I hope so no other game I want more!

Hope they leave out the AC plot developments though!

My god, they haven't made resident evil 4 compatible :-( Does that mean they might add backward compatibility at a later date though?

Also can anyone tell me do the games run exactly the same as they would on a ps2 or do you sometimes get a lower or maybe even higher fps?

I am also concerned with a remake of FFVII will they make exactly the same game but with better graphics and sound? If so its hardly worth buying at full price.
Will they make changes, to add new and "Better" puzzles/challenges/mini-games. These improvements could make things worse.

Will they PG the Graphics, or will they Go "Anime" on them. I would want gore but I don't need blood volcanoes

Will they alter the story, will the game be as indepth or will they chop out some of the unused side quests of alternate scenes?

Will it remain faithful to the original?

Ultimately I don't really know what I want from this game. I want it to be completely the same, but to have kept up with the times in game play advances. IMO that game was perfect and it is probably best to just leave it alone. Any remake can only be detrimental (no matter how cool it would look and sound)

Exactly what my fears are, only i think i came across abit more negative! :D

I mean don't get me wrong i would love a remake with those graphics, etc, but i can't help but feel that it may upset the balance.

And now that the PS3 is released i would have thought something might be announced by now to help boost sales.

Still this is kind of hijacking the thread a bit so i'll leave my concerns for another time. :p
