Panasonic Screen Problem

Switched my 2-year old Panasonic TH42PZ80 plasma on today for the first time in a month and I noticed two vertical lines on the left hand side of the screen, one green and the other red. Doesn't matter if its AV/HDMI or analogue tv, it is still there.

The tv doesn't be used much unless I get an hour or so here or there to play the PS3 on it and in total I doubt the tv has had more than 300hours of use.

Can someone tell me if this can be fixed by myself or is it a job for the pro's meaning there is a hardware fault with the screen?

For a tv and a Panasonic, I thought it would have lasted longer than a few hundred hours so if someone can offer any help, I would be grateful.

Cheers.

I've got the exact same tv which is also 2 years old. It gets used several hours per day and I've not had any problems. Weren't you offered the free Panasonic 5 year warranty when you bought it?

The warranty offers have varied a bit. At certain times it was only available through specific channels

I got the 5-year warranty offered by the big store I purchased it from. I was hoping this was a problem that would go away if I used the tv more etc.

Why get an expensive 42" telly if it's only going to get 1 hours usage every 2 days?

Maybe he wants good picture quality when he does watch it?

I vaguely remember seeing this fault posted on AV forums, as I recally its one of the screen 'drivers' failing and will need replacing.

I used to have a PX50 and after around 10 months i got a vertical green line. I got in touch with the place i bought it from and they sent an engineer round who said the panel was faulty and they would have to replace it. It was taken away and after these 'engineers' had it for a month and said they had put another panel in and that was also faulty so they gave me a refund.
