pancake mixture with no measuring facilities

I'm sure there are plenty of recipes available, can you not just work out the ratio of ingredients and estimate them with pint glasses?

slightly OT, but is it me or do americans seem not to be able to grasp the difference between weight and volume in their measuring system? e.g. they think ounces are a measure of volume, not weight

Aren't they a measurement of mass?

Equal amounts of egg, plain flour and milk.
Easily done in a glass.
1 egg = about 3 pancakes or so... so start with eggs.
Make sure you whisk it proper, lumps in pancakes = no good!

Speak'eth the truth :D

Volume and mass are linked by the density anyway, given that density is constant you can convert volumes to masses and the other way. I don't see why you can't measure with either, it's more conveniant to measure out volumes of fluids than mass of fluid for example! (thus in "the american system" the volume measured is the equivalent of an ounce of mass)
