I'm looking for a pair of pannier bags (not overly large since I don't need to carry that much) which can be used singularly if necessary for around the £30 mark.

I've found these Axiom Appalachian pannier bags for £22 ish, although they can't be used separately. These dhb Elsted pannier bags are a little more at £30 but can be used separately I believe.

Are there any others you'd recommend?

Thank you in advance.

Bit above your price range but the one's that I would recommend are a pair of Ortlieb classic's. Thoroughly waterproof and really built to last. Both me and my other half have had a pair for a few years and whereas the cheaper DHB's that we had fell apart in a year these are still nearly as good as new. Not cheap but a case of definitely getting what you pay for.

Thank you for the replies guys. I think I've narrowed it down to the following:

Avenir Budget 16 Litre Single Universal Pannier Bag - £15.99 (Cycle World)

Avenir Left and Right Panniers - £19.99 (Mail Order Cycles)

Altura Arran 16 Universal Pannier - £24.99 (Wiggle)

dhb Elsted Rear Panniers - £29.99 (Wiggle)

I was wondering whether the the dhb Elsted Rear Panniers can be used individually or not, and whether they're waterproof as it doesn't say.

I also need to get a new seat post clamp which isn't "quick release" as I don't want my seat stolen! So, ideally, I'd to get one of these depending on which bag I get because I'd like to get them from the same retailer to save postage costs:

Outland Race Seat Collar Black - £4.99 (Cycle World)

POWERPLAY Alloy Seat Clamp Allen Key Super Light - £4.99 (Mail Order Cycles)

POWERPLAY Alloy Seat Clamp Allen Key - £4.49 (Mail Order Cycles)

M:Part Threadsaver Single Bolt Seat Post Clamp - £3.99 (Wiggle)

However, I don't know what size to get out of 28.6mm, 31.8mm or 34.9mm. I have a Mongoose Crossway 350 if that's any help, I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to be measuring the diameter of.

Opinions?

Rather than start a new thread I'll join in on yours if you don't mind.

I'm looking for a solid pannier rack for my hybrid bike. I don't want anything flimsy that will rattle around and annoy me as I cycle so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Cheers

Can anyone recommend a rack for a road bike? I did have one, but it wasn't a great fit and it interfered with the rear brake cable so I need some ideas as the descriptions on websites are rubbish!

i wouldn't really feel happy using one of those. they look like they will move around if the load isn't balanced, and don't look like you can load them up.

try finding some mounting blocks that go around the frame to provide eyelets. have no idea what they are called!
