Im hunting a decent pan set for my mother, nothing too spectacular, but good quality, and non stick etc.

So far ive seen these which seem okay

http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_59679_824356_-1

but i get the impression they have always been 100 quid and were never really 200+ :)

Looking for the essential pans ( i dont know specific names ), for most cooking chores.

Thanks if anyone has any input :)

Recently discovered Scanpans. Not non-stick as such, but they was up really easily and anything burnt (like the milk I burnt yesterday) just washes off really easily.

Personally I think that non-stick pans are over-rated and would prefer a heavy pan.

BTW Ikea pans seem to be quite heavy wearing too as I use one everyday to make large volumes of soup and it still looks as good as the day I bought it.

On the whole, you get what you pay for. Oh, and don't forget to check that they're suitable for the cooking method used.

I picked up a Warrel Tompson 5piece set just before Xmas for around 30quid, mega sturdy and will last a while im sure, you dont need to spend 100quid imo.

Thats rubbish tbh.

If you watch any of the Chefs or cooking programs from ready steady cook to Ramsey and so on they are using Meyer Analons.

I've had my basic set that the OP linked to for over 5 years and they are immaculate still. They clean up in seconds. Of course you cannot put them in the dishwasher.

Hedge you say nothing too spectacular, well the analons are spectacular, they are widely used because the heat distribution on them is very even.

I have the full set you have linked too and they are normally much more expensive apart from this time of year when they usually release a £100 set.

I have the full set of Analons, Saute pans, Cooks pan, all the skillets and frying pans etc and they are despite the cost one of the best investments I've made in the kitchen.

They will last a lifetime. A rub with oil every now and then and mine are as immaculate as the day I bought them.

If you can stretch your budget the circulon pans we sell at work are supposedly utterly fantastic. People rave about them.

think we may go for the original ones ive seen then :)

seems like they get good reviews!

debenhams are sneaky for this

They had a le creuset pan set that was £230 down to £50. It was the one advertised on the boxing day sale TV advert ?

shame however, that the small print was so small ,that we never noticed it was boxing day. Went in at 8am saturday only to be told they were back up to full price. We'd tried ordering them on the internet boxing day morning as soon as we saw the TV ad, but it wouldnt let you order them. Same message

"Your request cannot be completed, as one or more of the products you wish to purchase are not available in the quantity you requested. "

Very much doubt you'll get them for that price now. As you're unlikely to find them in stock at stores this late into the sales. I actually saw this pan set in debenhams on the 27th of Dec.

They only had 4 !
