Paradise (Disney+)

Agree with others. Really good show. The finale was never going to be amazing compared to ep 7 , but it had to be in that order.

Will definitely get a rewatch before s2 - I just need to ban my OH from watching this as everything she seems to like gets cancelled.

a little disappointed with the last episode, but like a few have said with how good ep7 hit it was never going to top that. Feels like this show has not been seen by to many people those that i have recommended it to have never heard of it. what's the news on Season 2?

Yes the last episode was a bit weak compared to what went before it. The reveal of the killer was a bit underwhelming after all the build-up. Also did wonder if by then they had just got the green light for a second series so quickly changed some stuff around and ended up losing some of the impact as a result.

Still overall a fantastic series.

I enjoyed the finale, set up S2 very well! People are complaining it's too rushed, yet the same people were complaining Silo was too slow. It was a tad rushed, but means the excitement and story keeps moving, no time for filler!

Yes, the Scooby Doo librarian was a a bit of a damp squib reveal, but his back story was interesting.

Is Jane working for another higher power we haven't seen yet or did she shoot Sinatra to save her from Xavier killing her?

Ending was interesting, we opened up to bright sunshine, not a nuclear winter, even though the previous outside shots were damaged buildings, dark skies and what looked like fallout.

I've not watched ep 8 yet, so skipped over posts since Monday and my opinion perhaps isn't a popular one in here by the looks of things. To be clear, I'm enjoying it, which is probably the most important thing, but it has a lot of 'But why would...' questions. Ep 6 was full of them for me. I know you can't tell how people would really react in some of these situations, but it just seemed very contrived. For example -

We learn that the only way to reset the sky and remove the writing is by rebooting it. (The fact this one guy managed to lock everyone else out... let's just accept that for the moment.) So, it's night, the sky is dark, the text appears. "Shall we reset while no-one would even notice?", "Nah....". Okay, now it's light and because someone shoots fireworks at our windows "Shut it down! Let's panic, leave the safe building and go out there and get to a shelter!"

It's a smaller one, but I feel like the Pres was being quite clear there was a very real danger if X's wide went to Atlanta. "You need to stop your wife from going!", "Pah, she never listens to me *shrug*". -Disaster strikes- "This is on you Pres! You should have told me I REALLY REALLY need to stop her going to Atlanta!" Really?

Then... Pres has a global EMP?!

Again, I am enjoying it, it is a good show, just a few things that bug me is all.

On your last point I feel like the final scene was budget constrained and possibly a bit of leaving it open so as to not write themselves into a corner for season 2.

Pacing wise I think there was room for a middle ground - they could have really built up some of the elements that were rapidly unfolded in the last 2 episodes.

I know you can't tell how people would really react in some of these situations, but it just seemed very contrived.

On your episode 7 point yeah often people don't react reasonably in these kind of situations but it did feel like they could have worked that better.

1st point, they didn't know they were fireworks, they got the Defensive Aid Suite from Air Force One - they said it would make them think it was a rocket attack. But yes, the lettering had been up a while, never thought, "why didn't they reboot when most would be sleeping?"

I understand what you are saying, but for the Pres to come out and say everyone is going to die just wouldn't happen, you can see it tore him, but you cannot save everyone - he didn;t even tell his aid who had been with him for many years and who he knew had children. He only had that flash of decency as he was about to escape himself - and we saw how that turned out when he made the broadcast. As soon as everyone knew they started turning on each other for a prized spot in Paradise.

However, Xavier knew they were prepping for the end of the world and if the Pres says, "maybe she shouldn't go this time" - then i certainly would have read into that!

Yeah, that's my point, Pres did all he could. X was not the smartest knowing what he knew, but then this is why he says 'I'll sleep when you're dead' ?!? That just makes me think X is a ****.

Ah got ya! Lazy writing or X's background is grunt work and not the smartest cookie :)

Yeah, i think POTUS gave X enough warning without spelling it out to him. X even promised to look after the female aids child when he knew that wouldn't happen. As far as he was aware everyone was about to get vaporised, double standards.

Finished it last night, episode 7 was incredible and the show is some of the best TV I've seen in years. Was it perfect? No, nothing ever is but it came a lot closer than most. Now the long wait for season two.

Started watching this right now me and wife off sick as dogs on episode 3..
So far so good.
Like silo but good

Lol I had my first lol cringe moment.
Yeah it's fine but it's stacking very high.
I hope this goes where I hope

Well I watched the first 2 episodes walking in to it completely blind having no idea what it was about, thinking it was some US president/political drama and woah didn't expect any of that haha

Same for me! I got recommended this and thought, meh, POTUS, Secret Service - been done a million times, but then the camera sweep over the top of the town in Ep 1 = hooked.

Exact same thing. I assumed it was a secret service thing but something was off - the colour tone of the show was rather odd and a constant. Then eps1 eventually gives it away.

The opening scenes had a feeling like The Prisoner (2009), The Truman Show, etc. especially with the layout of the neighbourhood and setup of the house and protection detail which kind of gave it away for me combined with the name kind of sticking out compared to the subject.

Yeah, personally I thought they sign-posted a lot of the stuff they would soon 'reveal' which maybe took a little away from it?
