Parboil Potatoes Day Before Roasting?

Auntie does have her place, but Xmas day is not it
I'll have to admit I cheated with all frozen VEG yesterday and these https://www.ocado.com/products/m-s-...0AJZ20DQZDM7xKY0jBY_WY_JKnXaGxx0fwRq3SKhZ3NRE I have to say they was very good. No cheating tomorrow though, I par-boil 1tsp salt per 750g, heat a couple tbsp to shimmering in the oven in a tin while I let the Roasters cool off from the boil with a tea towl over the colander, shake and glug them with a little oil before chucking in the tin. We always use Harry&Percy's...

My girlfriend just asked why can’t we have mash and I’m seriously considering it. I make some arguably great roasties but she doesn’t like them when they’re “too crispy” ( ). Apparently the royal family have mash for Christmas dinner soooooo… Is this mad? Just do both?

We do mash here, for just us two roasties are not worth the effort imo

I'd just do both if you can be arsed.

Nothing better than a crispy roastie on Christmas day though, those and pigs in blankets.

The nice thing about Christmas turkey is that the cooking time allows for fluffy crispy roast potatoes without needing parboiling. Some potatoes are good for parboiling, others flake or fall apart quite quickly.

It also allows plenty of washing up breaks to limit a messy kitchen and hob.
