Parcel sent 1st Class Recorded, still not turned up.

Sounds like postie has left it without signature. If we have stuff that needs signing for and can fit in letterbox. He will just post it through or leave it somewhere really safe.

I never use Recorded Delivery and I worked for the Royal Mail for over five years. It can be an extremely poor service and from my experience at times it's worse than 2nd class delivery.

We were always told just to leave the Recorded package by the door or behind a bin when we tried to deliver it and the person was out.

I really do hope your package turns up as sometimes it can take a week plus.

Next time use Special Delivery or a cheap courier service.

Thanks for the info guys, I go on holiday Saturday, and if it hasn't turned up by the time I get back I will have to sort this out.

The parcel was sent to somewhere in Essex and the recipient claims to have not received it. He has been at home, and he has had nothing through the door. He also rang up his local sorting office and apparently nothing is waiting for him.

Strange, I sent a package to Essex two weeks ago (1st Recorded) and that's not been delivered either. Putting in a claim to RM.

That's quite a coincidence. Certainly could highlight a problem at their end, whether it be loss or just plain incompetence.

Didn't bring my wallet with me, and only had a fiver in cash so it was the best I could do.

Not really an excuse to be honest, just poor planning. Id rather not post it than risk losing money on it. Next time use a bit of common sense and err on the side of caution... computer goods of significant value should ALWAYS be sent RMSD and insured... no exceptions.

recorded isnt guarenteed the next day, they just try to get it next day, just like first class, it arrives 75% of the time the next time, sometimes the day after, just wait a bit :)

If it was needed urgently should have used SD.
