Got a problematic teenager in the house who likes to use bebo/facebook and msn till the early hours of the morning, and really need to control her content.

Is there any free parental control software out there anyone can recommend or they use?

Alternatively use OpenDNS (http://www.opendns.com/) which allows Parental control at a non client side level so she won't be able to bypass it easily :)

You'll probably also find that many sites load faster via OpenDNS too.

any software you put on can be gotten rid of with the proper googerling.
I'd suggest getting yourself something like the WRT54GL, apply Tomato or similar, and you can set up all sorts of access restrictions.

Not really, the child in question has very limted IT KNOWLEDGE and anything put on will be a serious restriction.

This isn't a problem that needs solving with software rather a problem that needs solving with discipline.

Remove the computer from her room and install it in the living room. Make sure the account she uses is limited to reasonable times only and make sure she knows that any infractions will be punished (for example as a first strike removal of her mobile for a week)

Spare the rod, spoil the child.

The child has no friends? If the desire is strong enough ways will be found i can assure you! (after all I'm only 21)

i know but not my child, not my place. Im just the older sisters boyfreind who said this is possible option
