Anyone got any recommendations for easy to use Parental Control Software for Windows.

A work collegue has a daughter who has apparently been using her ipod touch late into the night on school days / when she is supposed to be asleep.

They want to do the following

1) Block any nasty sites/content being accessed from the device, according to age, so that other users who are older can still access content appropriate for their age.
2) Restrict the hours that she can connect to the Internet.

I know they could just confiscate the device or turn off the wifi, however there are other users in the house on their own computers. Confiscation would only be used when their child is really naughty so they would like an interim measure.

K9 is very good for both content filtering and time limiting on PCs, however that's not going to help on an iPod touch. Opendns can apply content filtering at DNS server level, which will then also work for any non-pc devices as well. I'm not sure how you could do time limiting for an iPod touch unless you used a custom router firmware like dd-wrt.

This would probably need to be something done by the router.

For example, if they've got a router capable of running DD-WRT, then they could make use of the Access Restrictions, which allow locking down to a device based on IP or MAC addresses, as well as times of day.

A combination of device IP/MAC, and timeframes, will allow or disallow various access to this individual device, whilst not affecting other machines within the house.
