nice if you can afford it and your wife earns equivalent salary
Works out even better if your wife earns more than you

Haha, yeah I read something which said they couldn't. Maybe that's just when it's subsidised by the Gov.
Edited my post before I saw yours.
I will probably be sending them to Nursery ASAP in that case.

My wife is pregnant at the mo, early stages though. We have discussed splitting the parental leave, 3 months her, 3 months me. I think it could be good, but there hasn't been a precedent in my office. Not sure how it would go down. How very new-age!

Back in 2010 I took 6 months non-paid parental leave from work and spent time with my then youngest one to become the primary care giver. I became the stay at home dad and my wife remained the main breadwinner. My work were very cool with this which definitely helped.
My daughter was 7 months old at the time so I saw her go through a lot of stages day to day and it was a pretty magical time, but also a challenging time for me, our daughter and my wife. It's hard work.
Long story short, we're about to do the same with our newest arrival and I can't wait. I hand over in 3 weeks and then come back in November of this year, having mopped up nappies and seen the smiles and tears, but missed out on my team's progression, and with potentially a different view of what a picture can look like, and have to make sense of all of those things.
Exciting, isn't it?
.Do you think anyone would notice ?
