Parkers - cost of motoring comparison tool

Completely useless for used cars as it assumes..

Over a 3 year period it states that for my used A6, the Service and Repair would be £9,005.10 :p

However, insurance would be £0.

Lol, you can't put a higher mileage than 130,000.

EDIT: I've just run the exact same car and specifics a 2nd time, and the values have changed

Now states £8,419.45 for Servicing and Repair, but this time added £5000 of "fixed costs".

Handy site that, I guess you could do it yourself with a spreadsheet but it's handy having it taking the reg number in order to find the tax and mpg :)

Anyone know why is a 1999 MX5 cheaper to tax than a 2005 1 litre micra ?

Or is 'fixed costs' depreciation?

Some quite hilarious results from that tool - tries to take into account interest costs (what if the car was bought) and lets you adjust deposit amounts etc without telling what it's assumed the cost of the car was in the first place, has some very, very random "servicing" costs in there too. I stuck the civic and equivalent golf diesel in and whilst it comes out with what I would say is probably the correct order of running costs overall, the details dont stack up

I only tried it with cars that are 10-20 years old :p

As I said in the OP, handy for tax/fuel costs
