Parking Eye - Parking Charge

They are a bunch of con artists basically they are hired by supermarkets to keep watch and as they aren't the police or a goverment agency they have no legal rights to take u to court, the worst they will ask you to pay is loss of money they would have lost for you taking up a stop in carpark, is you went over the alloted time that is,
A friend of mine got one of these letters a few days ago and was told they had 14 days to pay cheap £40 but 2 days later got another letter, if you search in google your find loads of forums about their dodgy way

I thought this might be the best place to ask. Recently took a trip down to Newquay with the family and got a Parking Eye Parking Charge Notice to owner.

We bought a ticket but didnt keep hold of it (who does?) but now we got this letter through saying we owe £90 or £60 if we pay in 14 days.

My inlaws also got a letter stating the same and we both got the tickets together.

My wife sent an email of appeal confirming name and address. (Told her not to )

Where do we stand?

I wouldn't bin the charge notice, because they're likely to escalate things further should you ignore it. Ask for proof and say you've taken necessary steps to display a ticket at the time of parking and that you no longer have a ticket due as it's been disposed of. They should have put a notice on your windscreen like Newcastle Parking Enforcement do, that way you know to keep your ticket.
