Ahoy!

I have always been under the impression that if you sit waiting in your car, in a car park, you don't really have to buy a ticket as you haven't left your car unattended?

However, today a miserable car park chap came over and had a moan at me because I didn't have a ticket. I explained I was waiting for someone but he said you still have to have a ticket if you're planning on being in the car park for more than a few minutes.

Obviously it's no big deal, but it's something I've always wondered! Do you bother with a ticket in these situations? What are the 'rules'?

I never have and never would either. Most of the time they just have a glance and wonder off. However all private car parks have their own rules. It makes sense though, if you're occupying a space which an otherwise paying customer could be using, the owners won't want you there.

Had a PCSO tell me off for doing this in Exeter city centre. I told her I was waiting for someone but still got told to "move along".

I just drove around the block slowly and then straight back into the space. :D

Just tell him you're not planning on being there for more than a few minutes. Problem solved.
