Last few cars I have had have had these fitted already, and I've got very used to them.
Next car won't have them, so I am either going to fit sensors or even maybe a camera. Loads of cheap ones on ebay etc, anyone had success with these, or is it better to get more expensive ones from places like halfrauds?

I got a cheapo set from the bay and they worked just fine. It was a 4 sensor set with led read out.
Bit of a pain to fit as had to pull the rear number off and drill through as well as colour match the sensors themselves. Suppose it was worth it in the end as it looked factory.
Personally I would prefer to go with a camera as less hassle to fit and you can often get a number plate surround that includes the camera which then links to a rear view mirror with a screen in it.

I paid for front and rear sensors on the wife's Kaptur - very handy, I could easily not have them but as I do I find they make parking quick and easy.

Mine are just sound but my old Peugeot 407 had ones that also came up on the screen with which sensor and range - that was much better/easier to use.

'05 Kia Sportage, it's a bit of a brick and the rear view isn't great so...

Might be worth reading the owners clubs, on Audi / VW you can get aftermarket systems which integrate like the OEM sensors, i'd be looking for something similar.

Also the flush mount sensors look a million times better and are worth paying extra for.

Interesting, they have to go down as a modification for insurance quotes, and that puts the price up fifty quid for me! Won't bother then...

That seems odd....I know insurance throws up odd counter-intuative results at times, based on their data, but I can't see why having parking sensors would be any sort of detriment to push your insurance price up

Logically it might be because people with these sensors seem to heavily rely upon them to the point where they fail to observe and end up bumping into things.

No chance I'd be declaring parking sensors - I'd love to see them decline to pay out based on that

I guess it would depend on the type of incident.

Head-on collision - it probably wouldn't even come up.

Reverse over a child because you were relying on the sensors rather than looking behind where you would have seen them running across the back of the car - might give them an excuse to play dirty*

* Not saying I agree with it, but insurance companies inevitably do whatever they can to avoid paying out!
