Parmo in Glasgow?

I've always wanted to try one of those as well as a munchie box. Fish and chips at the Beamish museum is at the top of my list though - has anyone eaten there?

I live in the north east and no one calls them Parmos, only Parmesans.

Literally everyone I know from the North East calls them Parmos. Infact when I've been there, everyone ordering called them parmos. I called it a parmo when I orderderd. It's definitely a Parmo.

I have been working in Glasgow past few months and they like to have battered deep fried pizza:eek:
The sausage supper you always get two sausages :)

Pizza Crunch's are amazing.

and why would you only get 1 sausage with a supper? that would be like a kid's meal.

Roll and fritter is basically the staple of every kid with a chippy near them. I'm in the mood for a Pizza Crunch and a chips, cheese with gravy now.

I dread to think how many calories are in a munchy box, must easily be 4000 odd in the large one however they do vary from place to place in size and quality.

Yeah they do, I'm from Gateshead and I say Parmo :p

Nope. Definitely known as parmo's to me.

You mustn't be north eastern enough. Definitely around here everyone says Parmesan and all the takeaway outlets have it listed as a Parmesan. :)

When I was working in Spain in in 1979 we used to eat a veal and cheese escalope with a plum tomato sauce at lunch. Served with a spanish salad on the side it was sublime.

With an egg and rice starter, a glass or two of red and a creme caramel to finish, it began the siesta in the right way. Back to work at 4pm through 9pm though.

The fish & chips there are fantastic, done in proper dripping, in a coal fired fryer, seriously good.

Sounds lush. Veal/pork/chicken escalopes with tomato sauce are lovely. I wouldn't deem it totally unhealthy but I suppose the cheese/bechemel sauce takes care of that in this instance..

But what's an egg and rice starter?

I had a deep fried pizza in Scotland last year but although still good, I was slightly disappointed to learn it was just a frozen pizza deep fried. Some reason the pizza shop didn't deep fry their own freshly made pizzas.

They did deep fried Mars and Snickers too, and also sold Rennies :D

Easier to dip and not overcook something that is frozen I'd imagine.

Cooked rice, onion and garlic pressed into a teacup and inverted onto a soup plate, a lightly poached egg placed on top and a drizzle of any sauce around the plate. :)

I literally couldn't be more north eastern! Any further north and I'm Scottish. Any further east and I'm speaking Dutch!

Sounds nice enough, does it have a posh name? :p

Also the lack of pics is disappointing.

I had a go at making a parmo once, the chicken and bechamel was great - but I realised an entire bag of cheese wasn't enough..
