I was wondering about the etiquitte of Parping here. What rank should you be before starting to parp other users? Above ground level (which I believe is 50)? Has anyone written a FAQ on parping?

BTW, Congrats to BigStan for going up in the world this week :)

Thank you :)

Parping can start whenever you feel it is required. It's usually not worth it until you've got past the majority of the slackers (not much point parping people who are no longer Folding, really).

Stan :)

Parp all and ever active member.
Be it OOT, flamboyant, resourcefull, elequant, mad scientist like, or just dead pan matter of fact, but never offencive.

I think I'm right in saying all the active members here have been stomped at one time or another by each other and called a slacker (even if their PPD was well over 2K or more  )

Note my impending slackerdom at the hands of both SnapshOt and 2bullish :o

Some folders are so active in tracking threats to their cells that it has been known for them to issue inverse parps to impending stompers.
This has been frowned on in the past and is therefore not recommended.

I don't think that it's necessarily the best policy to parp active folders. It's best to parp folders who you suspect will read it on the forums. A parp's no good if the parpee never sees it. :)

...I'm sure I saw one, but when I looked again he was gone.... Could have been a trick of the light, I suppose.

yeah they're hard to catch - best to turn off the lights and wait till you can hear them scurrying about then turn it on quickly and try to catch one before they hide again :D

One of the main considerations is parp timing. I tend to hold off too long on Parps until only a few hours before passing the 'slacker'. This has the downside that it reduces the thrill of the chase but has the upside that you stop them from raising their game temporarily and making your Parp look like a "Farp" which is a parp that fails (failed Parp = Farp) because the supposed slacker is actually not going to be caught by the parp issuer any time soon (ok so i just invented the word Farp :D )

Disclaimer: Many Parps that look like they have turned into Farps actually turn into Stomps before too long thus rendering the original Parp legitimate. This is because the 'slacker' can't keep up their Farp making attempt level of production.

Clear as mud eh? :p

I want to start parping people but feel its a bit silly with my rank and all :(

Its going to be a long time before I break into the top 100 though so I might start when I hit the double figure thousands which shouldnt be too long

I'm not much of a gloater really.:)

However, should I be 'parped' I will do my level best to turn the aforementioned 'parp' into a 'farp' thus preventing the proposed 'stomp'.:)

Can someone define parping please how do these events happen? i.e. stomped, parped and farped as I am sooo new :o I'm only starting to read up on Fah.

TIA

In simple terms:

Parp = Warning to someone you're about to overtake them (or stomp them)
Stomp = To overtake somone in terms of total score
Farp = (Failed Parp) Failure to overtake someone you've parped

But there's only any point in parping someone who is active (24 hour Avg > 0). There are a lot of corpses to stomp first! :)
