Not much left in the bag, just got a second K9A2 platinum and now have two 1055t's but my push for top 20 in the world in milkyway has depleted my funds.

No 460's for me until next month i think, ive got room and power for 8 but thats not hapnin for a while:rolleyes:
 
Thanks BaBa i was looking to make an extra push but it seems the p5q mobo i got is not quite right, either that or i have goofed up somewhere along the line, gpu's going to waste....tis a crying shame :(
 
Any resident genius wandering past is welcome to give me an opinion on this problem if you wouldn't mind.
Just built a rig
Asus P5Q deluxe mobo
Q6600 cpu
Thermaltake 875w psu
H50 push/pull
gtx 470 x 2

The build went fine os install fine but after approx 30 minutes sometimes more sometimes less the screen just freezes and there is no response from mouse/keyboard and i have to restart.
Needless to say this is getting on my last nerve end and if i dont sort it in the next day or two i fear for the safety of my double glazing.
All parts are new besides cpu second hand, have checked and double checked cabling, psu is new too, i re installed o/s three times now and still the same thing. One good thing it never froze while i was installing the os....any thoughts or advice on what i can do to avoid the dreaded rma?

Sounds like power to me...

Double check your connections and make sure you haven't crossed rails :eek:
the same colour pci power connectors to each card..
Does it still freeze if you dont run boinc?
 
Evening sah,am not running boinc on it as yet to bleeding scared i'll vandalise summat.
I was thinking power its a thermaltake toughpower xt 875 got it on ebiyer if you look at it you cant cross the cables .... so blinking cinfused now - if you manage to look at a pic of it you will know what i mean on "that" site that lets ya zoom in with a periscope :)

As for the problem, usual procedures apply - divide and conquer. Unplug what you don't need and see what you get. :)
 
Unhooked anything i dont really need so just powering the cpu,h50,1hd and 1 470 still freezes, will just cut my losses and rma the psu and the board as i have no way of proving which is at fault.The psu lights are green and all leads where plugged in firmly in the correct way so am going to take a pot shot and say the mobo, how/why and what i could do to right it i don't know other than setting back to defaults.
Neve mind guess its hot chocolate and resident evil 4 instead :(

Moving my rigs to rack mount over the next month or so, seems i need to upgade my ageing nvidia GPU's:rolleyes:

Cheers BaBa, have had more than my fair share of hardware woes or it would have been better rac much sooner.
Have to say rank 1 on 2 projects on your sig looks great you've put a lot into it, i will try to keep it up.....please don't make a concerted effort on seti just yet, my wallet couldn't stand another spend :D:D:D
 
My rack shelves should arrive tomorrow along with my first 460, not got the catchin of you yet but you wont be gettin away as fast:D

Also worked out why my 260 has never done what it should, its a Palit sonic with two fans and i dont think one has ever been running from the lack of dust on it.
Must have been downclocking on overheat,ive now inserted the guts out of a case fan into it, looks awful but temps are good:)

All this talk of upgrades and rack shelves and me not getting anywhere fast - you sure your not related to Mr Halz?
Best get this build done right away - fully charged electric screwdriver - and i'm not afraid to use it - back in a few hours :D
 
Racks arrived and build started (a day late) its gona take longer now cos im back at work(nights):rolleyes:
Might have to take most of the rigs off line for a couple of days to get it done:(
Ive also fitted the accelero coolers to my 5970's problem is only one goes in the case now(tripple slot coolers:rolleyes:)so until it goes in the rack credit will take a hit(900 gpu is easy without going above 1100mV so its good in the long run)
